I got some Method wheels ordered and Im trying to decide on what tires to go with. I commute 400mi a week on the highway. Off road I will see some mud, hard dirt and sand. Very little snow, if any, just really depends on where I go.

Im looking at stock raptor tires (I have an XLT so I have no experience with them) since I believe they will be a good blend of on and off road.

Do they work well? Are there better options out there? Pros and cons?

They are really good on road. Offroad, well sand isn't bad but mud isn't good.

I might get 40,000 miles from my set. No weather checkering on the sidewalls after a year. They're an S speed rating, if that's a consideration.

Respond well to pressure adjustments: 48/46 highway, 30/30 on soft ground. Not overly loud on pavement.

But, will they fit an XLT?

I'll go out on a limb and say that the stock BFG A/T KO tires are the best all around tire for the Raptor.

And Ford will back me up on that :D since they designed the truck and selected them as the stock tires.

They're great at both on and off road. Are they the best on road? Absolutely not. A street tire is best. Are they the best off road? Possibly for all but mud. Are there better off road tires? Yes, depending on what you want the tire to do.

Don't forget these tires are pretty lightweight especially compared to heavyweights like the Grabbers and others. And they have excellent tread design and very durable side walls.

So why do many Raptor owners choose to run different tires? Because they can :D

Overall, I'd say they've been a good tire for me on the Raptor and on my previous '03 Dodge Ram 2500. My factory set on the Raptor are now due for replacement at 38,000 miles. I got the truck in January of last year and drove it like I stole it for most of that time. Weekly commute with two pistol matches most weeks is 650-700 miles.

I would say it's a great tire on road but, not quite as good as a true street tire like Michelin's LTX...particularly on wet pavement. Beyond that, it's been very good on sand, loose dirt, hard pack dirt, wet praiirie grass, and gravel. Mud is generally OK (not great) for my needs but, I'm not typically driving through a deep bog filled with soupy gumbo. My worst case mud scenario is usually a poorly maintained dirt road that has soaked up several inches of rain in the last 24 hours. The bottom line is BFG have worked in all these environments but, I've had a few times that I wanted a more agressive tire for mud.

My only real complaint with the stock BFGs is how quickly they get chewed up in the rocks and gravel. That's not to say other tires wouldn't do it just as quickly. The compound they used for the tires does seem to be pretty soft though.

They're a really good jack-of-all-trades tire though. I've run them on other trucks before. I'll probably switch to something else just because I like to change up and try different tires when my old ones wear out.

Street sand, mud, snow, ice and rock were good on mine until about 28,000 miles.
They got me through the deserts of Nevada and New Mexico and the mud and rocks of Texas without a problem. Running the Toyos now after the stockers got me to 37,000, but, may buy extra wheels and stock tires for all around play.
By the way, the Toyos plow through deep mud and water like nothing else.
Haven't had them in sand or desert conditions driving hard yet like the BF's.
