I know it is more expensive but is anyone running the ARB CKMTA12 On-Board Twin High Performance Air Compressor? It has way more output that two of the Viair 450 put together. Down side is that it is $500.

them are semi tanks^ and with semi the compressor runs off a belt that turns the pump with dumps so no water collects.

Huh I never thought to try. I have no doubt you could with the ExtremeAire I linked to, but I wonder if the Viair 450C would be overmatched. If I get some time, I'll try it out and grab a quick vid.

PS: I expect the tank would help the power tool situation. For a little while, anyway.

any luck testing air tools on the ExtremeAire compressor?

I don't have the EA yet. The Viair is still getting the job done for the tires, and if I just had to use an airtool on the trail today I've got four big 35" air tanks ready to rock ;)

WSI setup-

Mounted the tank (an old decomissioned CO2 tank for life raft deployment ,that hung on the side of a US Navy ship) using 2 massive stainless hose clamps, welded them straight to the WSI "Race Rack"

Installed the viair 450C compressor inside of an ammo can with a bunch of holes in it.

works great

I'm actually getting my hands on a bunch of these used bottles, if anybody is interested in this setup, let me know. Its like 3 trips to different industrial supply places to get all the right fittings and different pieces to convert down to something usable, and since I did this one, I know which fittings to use. Pm or email if interested. Its not a pretty yellow but it will be half the price. I think the tanks are blue
