I have been searching this forum, and the internet lately looking for any “Howto” to replace my oil pump gears in preparation for a supercharger. (I know it’s not necessary if I’m not pushing 550 at the wheels... but I would rather be safe) it seems that there is absolutely nothing out there explaining this!? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Or can someone who has done it give me a few pointers?
Much appreciated!!

Just did mine a couple weeks ago on a 6.2, working on my whipple install now. I used the service manual I bought to get all the torque specs and prodecure ford recommends, here is a link to some mustang guys doing it on a 5.0:

It's almost the exact came procedure, except we don't have to remove the water pump or the thermostat housing, only the water pump pulley, and the power steering pump has to be unbolted from the front cover, and you need to disconnect the pressure side of the pump to take the bolts out for it. I'd recommend getting the service manual, I think I spent like $90 on mine online and got like a 12,000 page pdf file showing literally every procedure and part for the truck. Also ford says to remove the oil pan, this isn't necessary, you just have to be very careful not to drop the 2 bolts for hte oil pickup tube. One thing that gave me a little more space that I did since I'm installing the supercharger anyway was to remove the intake manifold before I started, just gave me a lot more room up top to work in.

Thank you man! Was wondering if that 5.0 one was similar, thanks again!
Btw I bought the PDF version of the manual yesterday and was dreading dropping the pan hahahaha

Yeah I didn't want to drop the oil pan either, there are 2 bolts that hold the oil pickup tube to the bottom of the pump like in the link for the mustang, just like they say it can be tricky to reach them and if you drop it in the pan it's gonna be almost impossible to get back out. I saw some guys recommended tieing braided fishing line to it when installing just in case you drop it you can pull it back out, then once you get a few threads engaged just cut the line off, I didn't do this I was just very careful. I did it with the truck on a lift from underneath, could probably do it with the truck on jackstands from underneath, i think it'd be almost impossible to do from above.

Sweet, unfortunately I have zero access to a lift :/ so I will be doing all of this on my back

If you don’t mind me asking, how long did this take you?

Not sure on an exact number, I worked on it an hour or two at a time when I had the free time over a week and a half, probably around 8-10 hours total

Sorry to bother again, but did you remove the rocker arms? Or did you just mark the chains as in the SVT post ?

I just marked the chains (actually I dint even do that, I just lined up the other colored link with the timing marks when I put it back together), no need to remove the rocker arms. One of my cams did turn a little while the chains was off, there must have been pressure on a spring and it rotated back a little bit so I couldn't get the timing marks to line up. I had to put the chain on the crank and cam, turn the crank a little to turn the cam, then took the chain off and turned the crank back like 1/4 turn and it all lined up.
