Safety factor comes down to each individual person. If you can't control yourself, get a cage. If you have some self control, then you will be OK. It all comes down to common sense. You can get yourself in trouble with any setup, even stock suspension if you get stupid enough.

Personally, I will be running this setup WITHOUT a cage. (Maybe a cage will be waaay down the line....) as this is my DD for now. When I want to get super crazy I'll hop in the buggy, which has already been on its lid and have the roof sheet metal to prove it. :ROFLJest:

But it sure is tempting to go all out.....

Very good point. Probably some of the best days I've had in the dirt were at 70% pace even with my truck being caged. Sometimes it's nice to a have a good working suspension at that pace. It makes everything way more enjoyable.

Exactly. Yea its always fun to test out limits, but its also great just having a setup that works well and is comfortable and plush to where you dont feel beat up after a day in the dirt. That 70% is a good area to be in. Less risk of damage to people and property, and less chance of breaking something. Its not a race after all. If it was, well then that's a different story, and most likely a different vehicle/setup.

That's the problem, I have no self control. I've been an adrenaline junky since birth and will always push the limits. I mash my foot down and hang on. Even with my 3.0s I'm hitting 90-100 in the desert regularly, granted not over 2-3ft whoops.

Know the feeling. I start out with good intentions, but far too often push the limits. Started to do this with the truck the past couple times I've taken it out. Was also the main reason I sold my Evo and got the truck. If I have a passenger I'm good, but if it's just me...

Adrenaline junky here too.. My other rig is caged with less motor than the raptor..
I absolutely love hauling ass over whoops, 4.4s will need a cage, links and a beefy snowballed motor..

Prolly wouldn't be all that much more to add a 2nd shock (spring carrier) to the bypass rack. Delete the leafs, weld on new mounts to axle, weld on link brackets to frame. But then might as well cut the back frame off and tube it all. Shoot at that point, scrap the whole frame and tube the whole truck and LT the front, wouldn't be that much more at that point. 2 day job max. Just ask Jarrett....:ROFLJest::ROFLJest:

Oh I think 48 hours sounds about right for all that work. Speaking of that, my truck should be sitting on all four wheels by the end of the day. Big milestone for me.
