In Willits I dont know of any camp grounds the town itself is a bit back woods. I stay at the hotel right on main street and they have a breakfast service but dont count on it if we have a early meet... Take a hot shower get ready for a night in the woods... Little lake cemetary is a great place for goulish types they have graves from the early 1800's

Here's a quick map I made up as a possible route suggestion out of Shelter Cove.

A-B takes Kings Peak road north to Honeydew, which isn't technically challenging, its just twisty and definitely more interesting than taking the paved route out.

B-C-D is Mattole road from Honeydew to Ferndale (where they filmed the movie Outbreak). Its a paved road with great views and one mega hill at the northern end of its coastal run. I've included a detour to Prosper Ridge Rd, which has a short off road trail, at the end of which is a short hike to the Punta Gorda Lighthouse, that I've always wanted to see.

D-E is a quick 30 mile run up the highway to the Samoa Dunes, which is free admission and only requires a flag...although when I was there, I didn't get ticketed for not having one. The dunes sit right next to the Samoa Cookhouse which has some seriously good family style food. 1 menu, no options... if you don't like what's being served at that time...kick rocks.

There's plenty to do up north...ya just gotta do it at a slower pace.

If you're interested in seeing what its like up there. Here are my Photobucket galleries from when we've traveled the Lost Coast with our Honda Element car club.

Sounds like a great place for dinner Saturday night or Sunday brunch depending on how the day plays out.

Thanks for the info. I figured as much as the KOA was all could find last time. I'll just post up some links to the hotel and KOA i guess.

Sounds like a great last leg for Sunday. Hopefully we can pre-run it but if not I think we'll be fine since I'm think a lot of guys will head home early Sunday.

I'm a strong maybe for this. I really want to go, especially since its on a 3 day weekend for me, and I love it up north. But I gotta make sure everything is kosher here in the family, before I take off on yet another Raptor run.
