I’m in Commiefornia for 2 more months - buy from another state. Arizona gets a lot of Raptors with “CA emissions” on the window sticker. However, I had various dealers check for me (including reaching out to a Ford engineer) - all Raptors are CA emissions certified, the sticker under the hood says so on each one. When you register it here, the DMV people “inspect” it, meeting they check that the lights and blinkers work and then look under the hood for the sticker that says California emissions. The end. I called the DMV headquarters in Sacramento three times to verify. I am buying from Arizona or Texas or anywhere in the country, whoever gives me the best deal but I will license the truck in Texas.

I think I might have to consider this if California prices keep disappointing me. Honestly I’d pay just a tiny bit more to not have to go through the hassle of out of state, but I’ll try to exhaust my California radius.

I’m kinda new to the whole truck buying thing as my first vehicle purchase was only a couple years ago. How would one go about finding these out of state dealers to work with and price securing that doesn’t just waste your time and energy trying to get you there in person and then pulling an ol switcharoo?

Hey guys long time lurker and I’m sure you guys get these threads a lot from prospective buyers such as myself, but I just had a quick question about a used CPO 2019 raptor that I was looking at near me.

https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?zip=93654&trimNames=SVT Raptor&showNegotiable=true&sortDir=ASC&sourceContext=untrackedExternal_false_0&distance=50&sortType=DEAL_SCORE&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=d337#listing=261977289

Basically the dealer isn’t negotiating and says he’s selling it for only 200 more than he bought it for. I didn’t try any hard negotiating as I don’t necessarily know if I want this specific one and just wanted to test the waters, but he seemed adamant about not budging and said he priced it so low because it’s been on the lot so long. So basically the 61k it’s advertised for minus 200 is what he claims to have purchased it for. It doesn’t even have the 802a package from the listing, but the no moon roof is a bonus from what I’ve read from your guys postings.

Sorry for the wall of text, but I guess my question is, is this a good deal or should I try to see if he budges? I’m in California, the Central Valley if that info helps. Thanks guys.

Go to the farmer's market at The River, then head over to In-n-Out and ponder how much money you'll save by just going to Arizona to buy. I bet you'd save $5k at least. You'd probably get the same truck with the 802a package for the same price. Your welcome.

Lol yeah, I think that will be option 1b for me. I think the savings would have to be at least 3k for me to head out of state. How does one go about looking out of state. Just start emailing dealers out of state?

I'm in the market too and believe me you can get a better price like 58k 2019 fully loaded no more then 12k miles plus $800 delivery if you gonna buy it out of town

I buy almost all of my vehicles out of town, and often out of state. It's dead easy. A one-way plane ticket and a drive home in the new ride. Get an early flight and you can buy 500 miles away and be home by bedtime. Go to the local Ford dealer for VIN verification and then head down to DMV. You might have to pay your full sales tax in cash at registration, so you should figure that out in advance and put money in your checking account.

Wow, yeah that price and mileage for fully loaded is something I’d probably pull the trigger on quickly. Where would that be exactly? just so I have a baseline of where to look
