GEN 2 No CA emissions = more power?

I've been searching around and can't find a solid answer so figured I would create a post. Does not having California emissions on a Raptor give the Raptor more factory horsepower/fuel economy?

Well, yeah. Catless downpipes are pretty much the primary mod for stage 2 power. You’ll need a tune though. You would probably want a big intercooler too, like the Cobb, but the downpipes + tune are where the real power is. Then bigger turbos if you really want to go next level. Much better flow means more power when the engine is tuned to use it. The cats are the biggest restriction in the system.

If you mean the CA smog package, then no because they all have it. It kinda a oddity but if you find a truck that doesn’t have the package on the sticker, open the hood and look at the sticker under there. It will say CA smog compliant or something ( can’t remember exactly). My truck is like this bought in AZ and no smog package.

Thanks for the response. I was more talking about right from the factory without anything done besides not having CA emissions.

now a days...all cars...well most....are california emissions approved.....in the 80's and 90's it was a much bigger standard jump and the california cars were neutered...not so much any more.

All new cars sold in the US have CA emissions from the factory. So CA cars are no different in power than cars purchased in other states. But yes, the emissions equipment and tuning do limit power.

I ordered a truck from a dealer and they were able to order it without CA emissions so that is why I was asking

That seems very odd. If you, or the truck were to move to CA, it would be considered an illegal car and could be impounded and crushed if discovered but most likely would fail smog and would need a crap ton of money to make it legal. I've lived in CA my whole life and sometime in the 90's, all cars were made CA compliant. I think it's suspect you can order a car, any car, without CA emissions. Either you or the dealer is confused.

Actually, I am confused... Seems there is a CA and Federal standard.

As mentioned above, all Raptors comply with emissions standards in all 50 states. There is no difference in power, torque, or emissions between a Raptor sold in CA (or any CARB compliant state) versus one sold in other states.
