Welcome OP. Have fun with your truck. When cruising the south hills put the truck in tow haul mode. You'll love it, trust me.

Il know a few shops in Bethel Park, what specifically are you looking for? I just go inspection and new tires at Five Star Tire. Terry is an honest guy that I've been buying tires from since my early chevy days.

Welcome! I've yet to see any of the FRF Pittsburgh members but I'm still looking.

Should have come to the yinzer meet up before Christmas.

That's where I got mine sprayed in..
Super nice guy, I'm a little over an hour away so when I dropped the truck off he drove me over to the south hills mall and came and picked me up when it was done..
I think his name is Kevin.. I can't remember it's him and his twin brother that runs it.

yup, his name is Kevin.

I will give Chris a call for sure next time. I have a few other things I want to buy over the next few months. I will call hime first. Thanks for the heads up still learning a lot about the forum and 'who's who' on here.

I want to put together a pittsburgh raptor owner hookup. send me your info.

Chris has helped many forum members and is a top notch guy.

Also, start a new thread under the north east regional section for a SW PA meet up. I'm sure you will get some together. Some raptor owners in other cities get together at "cars and coffee". I've never been there, but I think pgh holds this similar car show as well. Perhaps not in the winter?

I just got mine done there last week. I'm about 40 minutes away and Kevin did the same thing for me. Drop off at the mall to kill time. Me not being a mall kinda guy got wore out pretty quick... but it was nice of him to do.

Also worth mentioning, it ended up taking almost 2 hours over the quoted 3.5 hours... I'd arrange a drop off and leave the truck if I were to do it again. Like others have said though, he was a real nice guy and did a GREAT job. The wheel wells take a LOT of time in preparation alone, and in his defense, they got a little dirty on the trip to the shop from our ****** weather.

I ended up sticking with line-x instead of rhino or the brand from extreme truck because neither of them would do the wheel wells.

Welcome. I'm from near the Washington PA area, now south of Cleveland.

I also recommend Chris at Freedom, I got some gear and fog light kit from him last month for the Snoball, he's a real stand up guy!

Hey Fellow Raptor owners. At what point would you all recommend doing a complete fluid change to amsoil fluids?

Welcome to the forum! Great lookin truck and I am really liking the mud flaps. I haven't seen those until now, but now that I have I know what is next on my list. I like the PDP flaps, but those things are heads above IMHO. Very nice choice indeed.

For the fluids, I would recommend getting the engine oil changed out within the first couple thousand miles. Opinions on this vary, but getting the first break in oil out quickly is just good insurance to me.

For the transmission fluid, you can go up to somewhere between 20-30K miles before flushing, then continue to do so regularly and you will have a happy tranny for life.

For the gear lube, I would change it out before 10K miles myself and then every 20-30K miles after that.

For the power steering (using transmission fluid) and brake fluid, do those AT LEAST every autumn if not more. The power steering pumps in these trucks are notoriously rough on tranny fluid and the brake fluid breaks down faster than any other fluid in the truck, it is always a good idea to change it at least once or twice a year and make sure that if you are only doing so once a year, do so before winter so that the condensation in your brake lines do not freeze.

For the coolant, Amsoil offers Propylene Glycol based coolant that is non toxic, won't eat through the seals in the cooling system or dry them out. Has a regular duty service interval of 250K miles. I am testing the coolant in the Raptor during the SnoBall 500 because I am very curious to find out if it performs like I have seen in diesels. A few of my diesel customers out west reported that although their trucks temps averaged a 5-10 degree increase in regular normal operating temperature in the hotter months, their trucks stopped over heating while under loads on the interstate in the hotter months in temps above 100 degrees. With the engines heating up during the prerun for those in the lead breaking trails, I am curious to see if mine heats up at all, so yeah, I plan on working the truck a little to say the least.

If you are already an Amsoil user, then you may already be aware of this, but just in case you aren't, you do not have to pay full retail for Amsoil products. For those that plan to spend anything over say, $200 a year on Amsoil products, signing up for their Preferred Customer program membership, pay the $20 a year membership fee and save much more than that on their products annually ordering factory direct at the same price I pay as a dealer through their website at your convenience. Check out the link below to learn more about the Preferred Customer membership and it's benefits.
