good question.

the goal is to find non total shit shocks that might not have the performance of the oem shocks. But also don't have that price.

1600 for a new oem set ain't that bad if someone doesn't go the rebuilding route.

and yeah, some shocks get to crazy prices. don't need none of that.
I just bought new fronts since they were needing to be rebuilt (dolphining after hitting some highway bumps), and the cost to rebuild locally was $400-but they were 2 months out to get to them and mine is a daily driver and then some. $400 give or take is about the same as online shoos that rebuild, but then with shipping like $175 each way, I just bought OE shocks online new for $396 each with free shipping, and will have my originals available to rebuild afterwards. I plan on rebuilding the rears soon to keep them on schedule, but am just waiting til local rebuilder is ready and get them back in like a day after drop off.

While at it for the fronts, I am swapping in geiser 2.5" springs, so will make it easier,as I also bought new top spring retainers and dust boots-allows me to preassemble entire assembly and save time taking the OE springs off and swapping to put new shocks in

I would imagine the Gen2 shocks are different than these, correct? 2017 shocks show $400 each on Rock Auto.
