To John at SPP. I’m a Deutsch fanboy too.

Your harnesses look great.

Are you using the solid Deutsch pins and sockets or the stamped pins/sockets?

I'm a WP fan! Anybody who's ever crimped WP and DT knows how much easier WP is. And they are a solid connection if you insert the plugs properly. The trick is to just pull back a bit on the wire. It'll straighten the pins as you insert the plugs into each other.

DT are a pain in the heck to crimp. Fail more often then WP when crimping due to the TINY little barrel edge that holds it in. And the inserts are a pain to use that are designed as a method of securing the pin as well.

WP just work so much easier. I've never had moisture issues with WP issues.

Great product, I have both Baja and Rigid lights, so I'll be looking into these options.

Thanks for the information

I’ve never had a problem crimping Deutsch SOLID connectors. I use the official Deutsch tool, which is expensive.

There are less expensive stamped Deutsch connectors as well as $45 crimp tools for Deutsch.

I’ve only used the solid connectors and the OE tool.

Not trying to derail this thread but solid Deutsch connectors and the $40 tool - comes out perfect.

But the key is, you don't need ANY tools. You don't need to crimp, cut or splice. If you want to get out the tools. Don't get these harnesses. These are for the people that want to plug in and be done.
Plus, If you're a Baja Designs fan, you're getting Weatherpack if you like it or not 90% of the time, so unless you cut the connectors off the lights, you get WP. Rigid uses DT, which we have all the plug in adapters for.

Again though, this is a SOLID system with proven weather proof connectors that you need to plug in ONE time. It isn't like you are taking them off and on and off and on again. It is very clean.

Now, that being said, anyone that wants to buy a set of our bare harnesses and buy a bunch of DT connectors to add to them themselves, we can help there too. We do have general harnesses still in stock without connectors that can be purchased at a discount. Remember, the cost of wire is still a necessity, so a spool of bare wire, loom, heat shrink is still needed above and beyond the cost of connectors.

Just let us know if you guys want any general harnesses to modify. We have some older versions left you can change connectors on.

You also missed the part on the add on Tail Light and Backlight Adapters. These have been very popular and you can add them to any harness if you want to change connector styles...

Here are a couple videos-

Just to echo, I also prefer Deutsch to WP, and I also completely get why you used WP for a consumer product like this. I'd be willing to pay for the DT connectors, but I know that might kill the product for most people. I recently just bit the bullet, bought all the crimpers, and now I'm Team Deutsch for life.

P.S. What single contact DT connector are you talking about???

Here is a link to a single pole DT connector kit for $15 each. Like I said. they cost more than the 2 socket ones.

Followed by a set of the WP singles that we use on our harnesses for the switch ends.

Both work great... One is priced too high for using multiple connectors...

I like this a lot. I've never cared about running backup lights off an upfitter switch, so I really like the tail light harness.

John,
Nice system I will have to pick up a system for my yet to be installed backup lights.

BTW the Raptor you sold me back in ‘18 is still going strong. Still love it!
