Hey guys - I pulled the trigger on a brand new 18 Shadow Black Crew Cab last night. I really fell in love with the truck right away. I am a long time GM die hard and waited awhile for GM to make a rival which clearly never happened - so GM lost a customer :)

I am wondering if I should have checked these forums first though??? Lots of scary stories in here with issues have me with the internet forum scaries. I know the drive line is somewhat unproven so far - with that said - what are the "do's and dont's" of owning one of these bad boys? It looks like the aftermarket support is incredible, I am thinking maybe some extra lighting off the bat. I am in the northeast and do a lot of snowmobiling so I will repost with how this rig handles my 4 place enclosed trailer.

Very excited to pick it up tomorrow!!!

Don't be scared, it doesn't seem that problems with our trucks are occurring at a higher frequency than any other vehicle off the line. I've got 20k on my 2017, with nearly 500 offroad miles, and no issues at all.

Since you have a crew cab, if you opted for the moonroof you might have issues with it leaking or getting knocked off track, so be wary of that. That's a problem that plagues all the F150s, not just Raptors, and it seems to be a genuine problem.

Read the manual and the Raptor supplement. if you do, you'll know more than most, including several things that will most likely help alleviate common problems people have. A big thing is to never shift the tcase when on the gas.

Great to hear and thanks for the reply. It does have the panoramic roof so I will watch for that. I cant stop watching all the videos on these things - crazy capable trucks.

10k miles on each of our Raptors with no issues (and both have the pano sunroof). I was a Toyota person prior to our Raptors. Toyota doesn't have anything that compares either, so we are now Ford owners and so far haven’t regretted the switch. Sign up for the the Raptor Assault course in Utah. You will not regret it. It’s a great way to learn about the capabilities of your vehicle and get experience using the different modes without beating on your own vehicle.

Truck is fun I have an 18 as well with over 20K miles on it.... Not only road but in the dirt where it shines.... Truck can do some amazing things for such a large vehicle.

Only issues I have had are noisy sunroof and other random squeaks that pop up.... Nothing else but those but they can be annoying.... Not sure what to do about the sunroof at this time but it def can be annoying but what seems to work for a short time is opening and closing it again and the noise goes away for a while.

Good luck and enjoy... Adding lights is addictive and fun :)

thanks for the replies guys

question for you raptor guys - how do the upfitter switches work? if you add lights can you run right into the fuse panel or are there hookups in the harness?

Plenty of threads out there discussing this. Just do some research its easy enough to figure out. There are wires by the battery that correspond to the proper upfitter by color codes hook up there and ground.

Welcome and congrats! I only have 2,000 miles on my 2018, but so far no issues. While extremely helpful, I think the forums sometimes make issues seem scarier/more common than they actually are. I know some will scoff at this, but one of the biggest "ah-ha" moments for me was adjusting the pedals away from the floor. Otherwise, I am also looking forward to the Raptor Assault course! Enjoy!
