After 16 or so months of anticipation, on Monday 07/26/2010 I finally bought a new Raptor! So far I've put about 300 street miles on it and have enjoyed them all. Great truck, lots of fun to drive.

Here are some pics from today after having the rear wheel wells Line-X'd and the windows tinted:

To be honest, I'm not very happy with how dark the tint is. I asked for "medium" but went with the shops advice and got the "dark" shade. It may have to go back and be redone, I dunno.

I am very happy with the Line-X'd wells. Much nicer appearance IMO. A Snuglid tonneau cover and Bedrug are coming in the next week or so.

Question: What do these straps on the back seat do?? I RTFM'd but must have missed this info.

Great site with lots of solid info, thanks to BigJ for the referral!

Great looking Raptor!

Welcome to the site; we're glad to have you here.

I personally agree with you - that tint is a bit too dark and if you don't change it I suspect the po-po will convince you

Regarding that strap: When I first saw it I hoped it was a release to allow the seat back to go down. It doesn't go down (the seat bottom goes up) so that strap doesn't do it. As I recall it's there to be used to strap in a child's seat but I'm not 100% on that.

Please click here and consider sending your basic contact info so we can add you to the South West Raptor List: http://www.svtoffroad.com/showthread.php?901-South-West-Raptor-Owners-(Golden-State-Members)

Welcome aboard!

Thanks MMD, I will send you my info shortly.

The thing is, I have to admit that (for now) I am 100% a poser with my Raptor. With 100's of passes under my belt, I well know my way around a dragstrip. But when the pavement ends, so does my knowledge. I fully admit that I know ZERO about off-roading. If there is ever a lightweight / beginner type of event, I'm very very interested in attending because I do like getting dirty.

Yeah, the wife came home and saw the tint and said it was too much, then your opinion reinforced hers. I will see what The Tint Pros will set me up with, hopefully they will redo it for a nice price.

LOL, I spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out how to fold the rear seatback down and failed miserably. Those straps were confusing the snot out me so I gave up. Them being for a child safety seat does make sense.

Stick with us - we'll take care of you. The key to offroading is to learn (and you can do a lot of that here) before you go out (about your truck and basic offroading techniques and safety) and to not feel pressured to drive beyond your skills and experience.

If you go out with us I'm sure you'll (1) be comfortable and (2) gain confidence as we don't push ourselves or anyone else. Everyone goes at their own pace and we look out for each other. You can feel comfortable going out on any/all of our trips as long as the destination sounds fun to you.

Do you have camping gear? We enjoy the camp time as much as the offroading so you might want to get your gear together so you're ready-to-go any time.

I'm getting ready to do a one or two day trip this month (August) - just trying to see when others can go out. Stay tuned (and get me your info when you're ready).

Welcome!

(I don't know what that strap is supposed to be for... but I've carried long items a couple of times by opening the rear window and letting them stick into the cab... the little strap comes in handy to tie to.)

I e-mailed you my info, sounds like a great time!

I'm in the process of getting my camping gear together, won't take me long.
