I don’t run one on mine. I’m not a fan of drilling into the factory air inlet piping and creating a potential leak path for dust/dirt. They can also cause DTCs to set, as crankcase emissions requirements have become more strict, requiring the PCM to monitor the PCV system pressure closely with tight tolerances.

Im not going to over talk what @FordTechOne one has mentioned. He is very knowledgeable and I would listen to his advice and answers over most on this forum in regards to oem facts and info. You certainly do not need a catch can on this truck, as it has DFI and PFI. So yours valves get washed by the fuel system. However if you wanted extra protection to keep your “engine” cleaner, you can install a catch can. Most manufacturers now do not require you to drill into the intake and just loop through the current PCV system. If you use a quality system and install it correctly, you should not get codes. If your not mechanical or don’t know what to buy, then it maybe better to leave well enough alone.

You can search this subject on the site. Many threads on it. Different opinions too.

Just posted a video regarding my two raptors (2020) - one had rust from delivery and the other has a whine..which one to keep..check it out!

Please comment and let me know what you guys think about the whining noise. Don't hear it when you are driving. Thanks

Based on your comparison, I would say that the whine noise on the 2nd truck is not a normal characteristic. I don’t like to draw conclusions over videos, but you were able to capture both trucks under identical conditions with the same recording device, and the difference is clear. Have you shown the dealer your comparison video?

I can hear slight differences. Even more ticking. But it’s hard to draw conclusions from videos as mentioned. Recordings pick up and amplify things that are not relevant and sounds get so amplified.

The rusty truck had to be sitting somewhere bad for a while. Any exposed steel/iron that could rust, surely did. It’s like it was parked over a catalyst to accelerate it. I once left a bike hanging over a gallon of what I though was sealed pool acid for a couple of months. The bike which had no rust, looked something like your truck later on.

Do have the dealer check out your noise concerns ASAP. I’m sure you want one good Raptor and piece of mind.

Good luck man

Thanks for the comment...went to the dealership after about 3 days of ownership and they stated this is "normal" transmission whine. Seems loud to me. Will get the first oil change around the 5k mark and will bring it back up to see if they agree. Always hate to have the dealership tear into a brand new truck (transmission etc).

Yes..the noise concerns me as well. Also the transmission doesn't shift all that smooth, especially when trying to drive "civilized". I am sure when on full boil or desert running, I do that all the time in Atlanta..lol, the truck would be in its element..but with the next visit to the dealership I will bring back up this issue. Thanks for your's and other's comments - Happy New Year!

Drive it out a bit and then have it checked. So compared to “Rusty” it’s not as smooth?

I don't think so..Rusty had about 900 miles on it..the dealership bought the truck back..the new raptor has about 2700 miles on it. I don't remember Rusty's shifting to be so quite indecisive. 10 speeds..who would have thought we needed so many. lol
