That is kind of what I was thinking. Maybe do 3 amer on each running board and then maybe two amber and two white out back...

I have two amber vertex on the front and rear that I keep on an alternating flash pattern unless I'm on a run. I've used them several times if stopped on the side of the road. The price of these are very enticing for that application.

How and where are your Vertex lights mounted now? Do you have any pics? I was thinking of possibly mounting these on the sides of the rear window or maybe in the bumber.

Which bracket did you go with and where did you purchase them? And how is the mount attached? It's hard to tell in the picture how and what it's holding on to.

I ordered from Sharp Communication out of Huntsville, Alabama.... I called the Tomar ppl directly but If I remember correctly they won't sell unless you purchase through their distributors. took approx 1 week to get in.

Hope that is readable.

I do not know if the amber color is more expensive. I think (from past expirerencs with other companies) that the most expensive are the blue LEDs.

I purchased and used the 90 degree brackets. They have several versions for various applications.

More bracket photos..... just remember, these brackets are made out of thin metal....They can be bent any which way you want.... to form any angle you want.... without too much effort especially if you have a bench vise...... I bent mine way back to achieve a very flush looking look. the thicker the metal doesn't mean a better bracket.... It just means that if you need to change the form or angle, you might be in for a fight. the metal with these brackets is thick enough to keep the light head steady and not shake going down the road.

You basically can't see the bracket as they are made with very tight tolerances to the actual light head footprint... they can do this b/c unlike some other manufacturers, these brackets are only to support/position the light head, not to waterproof or seal it. these, like some others, are totally encapsulated for any environment.

but like a lot of light heads, if a branch is big enough to move the mounting bracket, it's probably already tore up your light anyway. Lenses w/o covers or protectors are just not that tough. IMO. this is a 70 buck light head that is super small and throwing out awesome light. tonight's install is putting 2 light heads over my license plate and under my tailgate.... tight fit, but if I can make it work it will look awesome.

last night was the maiden voyage on this install and it didn't go so well. round 2 will require reshaping the 90 degree brackets by 1st straightening them completely out and then bending the 90 degree angle closer to the top of the light head to shave off 1/8 of an inch... I have already ground down the bolt heads to give more room.... and yes, I will be posting the installed rear facing ones later tonight if all goes well...

Getting close..... hoping the tailgate has enough clearance.

this is what I'm talking about when I say this is a tight fit....for me anyway. had to grind the heads of the fasteners down to the bare minimum ... 1/32 estimated head high.
...barely enough to tighten with.

there's probably a better way. I'm just not smart enough to figure it out.

It fit.... I like the placement and the looks. I haven't wired it up yet as this was a chore for me to install ...especially with being very OCD about installs looking perfect. I'm wiring these two up just like the side lights...to a 30 second timed wire which I believe I now know which one it is thanks to Nosbusa .....

Here's the thread for my rear vertex.

I haven't added the front to that thread yet though. Same concept just mounted in my front bumper.

MobileBeats:

Nice write up on the Whelen Vertex install. If I do that one, I might go with red on steady burn and add them to the same circuit as the running lights.
I will have try this once I get over the "I'm about to make holes in my trucks cab" issue. But your end result is impressive.
