Welcome. Engineer and hunter here as well.

You'll have to wait a while to get that 17. Have you considered picking up a used 14?

It's my understanding that it will be released in roughly 1 year? If so, I can wait that long. I would take a major hit on trading in my truck with only 500 miles on it. If I found a new '14, I may consider it.

33 years old, 6'-1", 195 lbs. (Dan Patrick show) I work as a licensed civil engineer and in my free time (not a lot of it lately) I love to hunt (love calling coyotes), fish, farm and I love my toys. I'm currently driving a 2015 f350 power stroke platinum, but I'm very interested in the 2017 ford raptor. I've always been a cummins diesel guy and have owned 7 or 8 dodge cummins-powered trucks over the years. I do own a couple gooseneck trailers, but have other trucks to pull them if I traded the 2015 power stroke. I have a company vehicle so the truck wouldn't be daily driven. I bought my current truck 5 or 6 months ago and have 500 miles on it.

I'm interested in the Ford Raptor because it would be something different than what I typically own. It would be used mainly for hunting/fishing duty and cruising down back roads. I've noticed that many of the folks on this board are not excited about the ecoboost motor. I've never owned a 6.2L powered ford, so I can't compare, but I am excited to see what the ecoboost raptor has to offer. I'm very interested in the Snowball 500 and getting to know the Raptor owners.

If anyone is in the NW Iowa area and has opportunities to call coyotes or would like to hunt with me, let me know. Thanks guys.

Great post with a lot of info about your background! I personally am pumped for the Ecoboost.....who DOESN'T want more power and torque, so long as it's just as reliable or even moreso!! The Ecoboost has been proven and I for one can't wait to see what it's capable of.

The sound will take a little getting used to, but that's the way things are going nowadays.

....although a V8 Ecoboost seems like the proper play here, Ford...

Thanks John. Are we thinking 2017 release about this time next year?
