We’ve received a lot of questions on the importance of requiring Lowrance navigation as part of runs. It all comes down to enabling the group to safely cover the kind of miles we do on a run.

As an example, during one of our early runs, we allowed a guy to participate who had no GPS or radio. He missed a turn in a very fast wash (probably going around 60-70MPH). One of our team had to chase him down for close to 10 miles at high speeds over terrain that had not been preran. Luckily we were able to catch this person.

Now many of you are thinking, he didn’t have a radio! Very true, and that probably would have helped in this situation. Now, imagine someone takes a wrong turn and quickly finds themselves out of range of the group. To make matters worse, they suffer a mechanical failure or even worse, a wreck. How are we going to find them? If they have a GPS, we’ll simply backtrack and find them along the route or someone trailing will find them. Not the case if they’re 20 miles off course in the middle of the desert.

A Lowrance is a great investment. It makes the whole run more enjoyable as you don't have to worry about getting lost or keeping up. You can stop to take a picture, a ****, or whatever and just catch right back up. Lowrance’s are also the most accurate GPS you can have and have been proven to hold up to the abuse we put them through.

In the end we’re not trying to hock Lowrance GPS’ for anyone. You can buy them from whomever you want. This about making Raptor Expeditions runs as safe and fun as possible for all participants.

Thank you,

Raptor Expeditions Crew

Take it from someone who's gone from no GPS-> non-lowrance GPS-> lowrance GPS, the lowrance is indispensable, you know exactly where you're at at all times, you know immediately if you get off course, you can find little shortcuts *cough*gettinglost*cough* and be able to get back on track slightly further up in the run if you forget to look at the lowrance and get a good ways off track, and probably the best part, you can easily make your own trails with it and save them for later use or for a future run

All great points! Once you go Lowrance, you can't go back haha.

Got a co-pilot for the run!!! John P, Looking forward to it. I have done this run before with Matt and it was great. Glad I have an experienced driver to share as I am still recovering from back strain last week.

Well, last weekend marked our first official club run. Had a GREAT group out there, made excellent time, everybody drove within their capabilities, and we had NO mechanical damage or breakdowns on the trail (aside from a blown fuse). The club requirements and philosophy behind them helped show new members this weekend exactly why we require what we do!

With a tight group, you can cover more ground with less mistakes and carnage... which results in a better day for everybody. Good job everybody.

Club members who attending this run will be receiving a special sticker in the mail for this run. Our intention, is to hand out custom one-of-a-kind stickers for EACH run... which you can start to collect on your rear windows as an achievement. They will be 2" circles, nothing too large, but enough to form a nice roll-call of your runs!

Just a few quick shots from this weekend. We didn't focus on too many stills, as we are in the beginning phases of getting some flight time with our new aerial photography setup. In time, this will results in some amazing shots and footage for our runs... more on that in the coming months!

We've been providing guided tours now for years, covering over 10,000 miles... but this is the VERY FIRST time we have seen the desert tortoise on a run. RSV-4 happened to stop to regroup right next to this pair... gave everybody an opportunity to get a picture from a safe distance!

We finished the run for the day at Cuddeback Dry Lake... where each of us took turns having a little fun on this pristine unrestricted lakebed, a good place to find your true top speed safely!

Had a great time, looking forward to our next run in Northern Californa/Nevada, the "Carson 500" next month! If any club members would like a higher quality version of any of these photos, please contact us.

Was a fantastic time. And as a skeptic for having a non-factory GPS.....I'm glad I had my Lowrance with me, as it saved my bacon. ;)
