Unfortunately I have a need to tow regularly over 13k lbs. I really love my Raptor but physics isn’t winning out. What are most people trading into with a similar need?

Also - how close are people getting to kbb or edmunds trade in values ? My truck is pretty much flawless but I drive a lot. I am still getting trade offers well below the sources mentioned above.

Just keep pushing dealers. They’ll go up. They like having a raptor on their lot. You look into a 6.7 Tremor?

Yeah that’s pretty much exactly what I’ve been looking at. Potentially the gmc 2500 at4 package too.

It sucks though. I really don’t want to trade the raptor. The tremor and anything else is just a truck to me. Doesn’t stir the soul.

Try carmax and a ford dealer.

You may get a better price at a ford dealer as they could sell it as a CPO. (If you are interested in a Super Duty)

I'm not in the same boat(need to tow that weight) but I would say any of the 3 big heavy duty trucks are nice these days. A neighbor has the 2500 AT4 which he loves.

Ram to me has the interior down pat and the Cummins is rock solid.

I saw on the FRF fb page someone got 56k for an 18 800a(38k miles) package at carmax.

Yeah I have high miles so I doubt they could cpo. Right around 82.5k right now. Edmunds which I read is connected with carmax has a trade value of $43.6k but I’m getting trade offers of $40.5k at the highest.

Dealers have some leverage too. Covid has really messed with supply so number of trucks with certain options I like are really limited.

Their blue CPO is 10 years old and 120k, so they can do that no problem. Like you said, used truck market is crazy right now. That goes both ways though, so you'll get top dollar for your truck. Don't take no for an answer. I'd email a bunch of dealers within a few hundred miles that have the truck you want, and work them. The market down in that 30-40k range is hot, but people being out of work and shit is tough on that 50-60k market. A tremor or optioned F250 probably has been on their lot for a while.

Gonna be tough getting a good trade in on a three old truck that already has 80K miles.

Try Carvana or Carmax.

I traded a '19 Raptor for a '20 6.7 F350 Tremor, miss the Raptor but the Tremor is a great truck so far. I'm in Canada and most used trucks here get shipped down to you guys so the market is ridiculous I got close to what I paid for the Raptor on trade.

The miles on your truck doesn't help. With half the miles, it's worth a extra $9k. Not your fault, but it's what KBB shows. It'll reflect that when the dealer goes to sell it.

I sold my first one to CarMax and my third one to AutoNation. Both gave me KBB Trade in value in Good condition and the trucks were mint with low miles compared to others I saw for sale. If your truck is perfect, they'll give you the low end of "good" value and anything less goes down from there. In reality, they compare to what is selling at wholesale auctions (or their wholesale auction if they are large enough like CarMax and AutoNation) and offering you a little less so they can always wholesale it if it doesn't sell on the lot in 60-90 days. They also take into account $500-$1000 they'll have to put into it to sell it (sounds absurd, but that's the value they see in detailing it, having it inspected and sitting on the lot).

If you have the time, consider their offer and post it locally for a couple grand more. You might get lucky. It depends on how long you want to wait to sell it. I think the market was super hot at the end of last year for used cars. I feel like it cooled off a bit. Specialty cars will always go for a premium.

You can always try private party, i have always had good luck selling private party even with higher valued vehicles.

On the new, don't go Ram, the interior and Cummins are great, they have serious transmission issues (since you can't get a manual anymore, troubled automatics are all you can get), and the rest of the truck just falls apart around the Cummins.
