First of all let me tell you alittle about my self. I am currently serving in the USAF and bought my dream ride before i got married. Which is my 2009 Jeep Rubicon. I have lifted it 4'' placed 35'' M/T's, Cold air intake and rear bumper. I love my Jeep. Problem is Im starting to take the wife out camping, four wheeling, more trip that require more space then what the jeep offers. Not to mention she wants to start having kids.

Now about a month ago I saw the Raptor for the first time. Had no idea what it was. No idea Ford even made it. Went to the dealership a week later. Now i am in love and want one. Been reading posts after posts good and bad about the raptor.

Now for the GOOD NEWS. Wife says i can have one. Lets go get me that Raptor!
I am just debating and trying to justify getting myself a Raptor even tho the wife says i am good to go. $55,000 truck is nothing for me to just say F-it lets do it. I know you dont buy one for the MPG but it still helps.
Now i get an Avg of 13.0-13.5 MPG in the Rubicon now..... will i get better in the Raptor?
Whats the issues with the "CLUNKING" in the Raptors?
I am looking at the Screw due to the huge backseats.
Should i just hold out and wait for the 2013?

What i need from you fellow Raptor owners is your help in helping me justify taking the step and buying this best. I need real opnions tho. Please be honest on the posts.
Thanks
Chris

First, Welcome and thank you for your service!
You are young and any kits will not require a Screw for the next 10 years.
If you got the hot’s for the Raptors get the one to your liking you can get.
If you don’t need one now get a 2013, but be prepared that it will cost you more.
I’m still waiting for my Truck and don’t have any personal experience, but the gas mileage should be an improvement.
Go Navy!

Hey thanks for the quick reply. I sure do feel like im getting old. I would like the Screw more for the space and i love to do alot of traveling and camping with friends and family when able. I also have a huge Boxer that travels with me everywhere i go. so i need some room for him where i can keep him off the leather.
Anyone have any experence with both the Screw and Scab? Proformance wise, or space issues?

If you plan on towing or packing people in get the screw. If not save a bit and get the scab.

You will get about the same MPG as you do in your jeep now (+/1 1-2mpg), and this thing rides WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY better then a rubicon (buddy just got a MW3 edition rubi, and my screw rides like a caddy compared to his).

Its a great truck if you can afford it, just make sure you dont get your self into a fiscal predicament if you are planning on kids in your future (lil ******* are expensive i hear).

If you can find someone willing to deal go for it. We all have the price that is acceptable! While waiting is agony, if I were you I would find someone willing to make a deal of $500-$1000 over invoice for a 2013. But that's me, I just can't pay dealer markups for instant gratification. They don't deserve it

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum...
The guys on here will help you with the specifics of the truck, but from a lady's prospective, I say definitely get the screw Raptor. The whole cab is going to feel huge coming from your Rubicon. The backseat area is great for your camping gear/luggage, and still plenty of room for your boxer. The flat floor works out well for a dog bed and even a water dish if your do a little rigging so it doesn't slide. The heated/cooled front seats are awesome, and the smoothness of the ride is killer. Altogether its a great truck and as long as you can stomach it financially, I would say that neither you or your lady will regret it. :waytogo:

Thanks again for the quick replys. Everyday I want one even more.
Has anyone experienced a MPG difference between the Screw vs Scab?
How is handling the size of the truck over all in everyday life?
