801 do have car play. It's limited on apps. This allows what that is ever on your phone to be on the screen. Movies for trips wouldn't be a bad thing for kids.

Does the 801a not have android auto? I thought all Sync 3 systems came with android auto functionality?

Also, if you put your phone and google maps/waze on a decent mount up by the vent or near the nav screen, isn't it already there where you need it? What extra utility do you get by then projecting it to a second lower-res screen right beside it?

Android Auto and Apple Car Play come with the 801a package. Just need to enable it in the setting for Sync 3 then download the Android Auto app on your phone. Works amazing. Google maps is way better than the built in Nav the truck comes with and already predicts where I am going half of the time based on previous searches through my google account.

I dont believe any of that is correct. I have sync 3 but it doesnt have the extra features.

Nice, I messed with it before, but I didnt know you could scroll ovber in the setting menu, so I hadnt seen a whole other page.

I had android auto, but it wouldnt do anything, now I know why.

I tried for pass, but I think you need something else for the remote start and stuff to work?

Hope you get Android Auto working. Its night and day better than just using the basic sync 3 features. I almost always plug my phone in just since the user interface looks so much better and then I always have Google maps and Spotify for my music. Also the hands free texting its pretty interesting feature that actually works pretty nice. Just had to learn to say "period" at the end of each sentence since I was told my texts looked like complete run on sentences when I didn't.

I will be SUPER pumped to have in dash nav.

I thought I had it.

Then I found out you dont have it unless you pay $1k extra, I thought i came with the bigger screen (801a)

Then I couldnt get it to work so I thought I didnt have it

now I may have it again

it has been a roller coaster of emotions

Well I don't think it's gonna be that much considering the 2016 explorer is 140.
