Just got the masterlock one. i will keep my eyes open for a regular f150 with a raptor tailgate and spray em with my paintball gun, bear spray, slugs, in that order. Keep those things locked and secured!

The worst thing is that I am sure I had it locked because a neighbor of mine reminded me when i was doing some yard work on Sunday.

I am actually looking for a white/hispanic guy that is a bit shorter than 6' in a black Altima or Accord with a Raptor Tailgate mod.

Another thing that may be good is an electronic lock. Maybe i can disable the keyed lock on the tailgate making it that much more of a pain to get in to it.

Yep use popnlock electronic tailgate lock with a punch plug instead of key..

This sucks big time... If i had to worry about mine(where I work we do not have theft)there has to be a way to tac weld something to the tail gate female part of the attachment where it goes on the truck. Might be tough to ever take it off but for me I have never had to remove my tailgate except when I put motorcycles in the back.

I have never had to take mine off either on this truck or my old F-150 that I had for 14 years. And I thought of the same thing - put on one of those theft deterrent devices and weld it so that you have to cut the damn thing off just to get the gate off.

I am so pissed off ... I am still seething when I think about the video.

You know that is the only real way to protect it. With the replacement costs these are easy pickings for a quick buck!

I remember 25 years ago the BIG DEAL was to steal the spare!! Had mine stolen almost twice within the same week at a Chili’s. The 2nd time some folks that worked at a store across from the restaurant saw a truck going slow and stopping then going on then called the cops. This is a big street the same one TCU is on if Fort Worth and the cops pulled up and caught them when they were behind my bumper! What really made this suck even worse is that we were stopping there to eat after “birthing class” when my wife was pregnant!

SO I WOKE UP THIS MORNING, GET INTO MY TRUCK AND HEAD TO THE GYM. I ALWAYS PARK MY TRUCK FACING FORWARD SO WHEN I SHIFTED TO REVERSE I NOTICED MY SCREEN WAS ALL BLACK, I THOUGHT "WTF, THE TAILGATE MUST BE DOWN OR THERE SOMETHING ******** WITH THE CAMERA. SO I FINISH PARKING, GET OFF AND AS I WALK BEHING MY TRUCK I SEE THAT THE TAILGATE WAS REMOVED. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ***********!!!" :banghead: AFTER THAT I PARKED BACK INFRONT OF MY HOUSE, CALLED THE COPS, THEY DID THE REPORT, I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY (GEICKO), I WILL PAY A $500 DEDUCTIBLE FOR IT. I JUST GOT BACK FROM FORD TO HAVE AN INVOICE MADE TO SHOW THE ADJUSTER HOW MUCH $$$ I SHOULD GET FOR THE TAILGATE. TURNS OUT IT COSTS $4,400.94. DAMN, NO WONDER THAT ************ TOOK MY SHIT. OH WELL, I WILL BE DRIVING AROUND FOR ATLEAST A WEEK WITHOUT A TAILGATE. ******* HATERZ

You are in McAllen aren't you? I'm always worried about mine getting stolen down here

After reading this thread, when I got home last night I threw a hose clamp on the tailgate.

Granted it's far from "theftproof", but it cost .50 and took all of 18 seconds. I beleive in most cases, when it comes to d-bag thieves, they prefer a quick job. They dont want to be hanging around, so the clamp may be just the ticket to get them to move on the something easier.
