It does detract from the pic but at least you'll know when it happened. I'd rather you keep them on for when you look back at these pics.

Don't get me wrong here; if someone LOVES the picture that much and wants to buy the rights to it for say....$100k - hell I'll even drop to $10k... I'll gladly retake and have that date removed!!!

you can right click on the file and the date the photo was taken is under the image properties. I used to keep the image tag on the photos too till I figured that out.

Yeah, I'm aware of that but all of our family photo albums show the date.

Sometimes that date is also not correct. I've had dates that are totally wrong from that info because of transferring, saving in other locations or other stuff.

I figured this was the safest way.

Once the file is exported to someplace else then you lose that.

not necessarily. maybe if you resave it as something else, but I've exported them between several computers now (5th or 6th computer since I 1st started saving pics) and they're still all correct.

Oh I should have specified by saying if you upload to an online source and dl it later then you lose it. I think this is true for email as well.
