Congrats. Sucks to lose your last Raptor but it's nice to hear that the dealer stepped up and took care of you.

As far as I know the truck was never found. Once I received the insurance settlement the truck no longer belonged to me and they wouldn't provide any information. But the dealer hadn't heard anything either. At the time of the theft the dealership was going through a major renovation. I guess several of their security cameras weren't working and there were a lot of people not employed by ford around at the time. Supposedly a few hours before the break in someone was spotted jumping a fence and peering into the detail shop window. No idea if that was related or what kind of investigation the cops did. As for this being a Canadian thing...I"m not sure. I know Ford Canada head office got involved, as did Ford Motor Company in the U.S. I imagine they all got together to figure out what the best option was. Whatever happened on their end I'm not complaining. It sucked waiting so long but this truck is amazing. I went for a drive in the back roads today and through some fields and my God can this thing take a beating. The only limitation at this point is my own nerve.

On an unrelated topic, and maybe this is for another thread, does anyone know if there is a good light bar or fog light and mount kits available for the Gen 2 yet? Also what about winches and mounts?

Damn, you lucky bastard! Congrats on the new truck! Even though you had to go thru some shit to get to where you are, I'd say you got the best deal of anyone on a new gen 2!

So you received a settlement check from the insurance company which then releases ownership of the truck from you? I didn't know that. Interesting.

Typically if your vehicle is found in any decent shape they will call you and see if you want to buy it back, rather then shipping it to auction. In the case of a Raptor they would not be likely to negotiate much knowing what they bring at auction. I bought back a Skid Steer this way once for pennies on the dollar. They called me the minute cops found it. (and 20 others)

<knock wood> I’ve not been the victim of a motor vehicle theft. I’ve had some bicycles stolen, but otherwise no. That said, property crimes like stolen vehicles get next to zero attention from law enforcement. It’s a felony pretty much everywhere but you would probably be surprised at how little is really done.

Basically, about 30 - 60 minutes of desk work searching, entering vehicle info into a computer, so that if it’s found via a traffic stop, they snag it. Of course, how many times do the police actually check your VIN - not what’s on the registration, the VIN? I have never had a cop check my actual VIN in 30 years of driving and maybe 2 - 3 dozen traffic stops? Basically, if the property is subsequently found, the police snag it and check it for being stolen, and if it is, they follow the police report back to the reporting owner and let them know. It’s held for evidence until disposition of any pending case - like the person who has it, isn’t in lawful possession. Once over, you can get it back.

Bikes are orders of magnitude easier to steal. 2, maybe 3 people and a panel van can snag a motorcycle in less than 1 minute. under 40 seconds if they’re good alarm blaring, passers-by ignoring the alarm and all.

I don’t know how much more “motivated” law enforcement is to get a geo located stolen asset, but you can at least make a case to the duty supervisor if you have the gps or agps coordinates of the asset.
