For anyone else doing the handle swap mod, make sure you also remove the metal pin by the blue wire and reinsert it the opposite direction since the handle is upside down now. Otherwise, gravity will eventually work it out. I updated my post above to mention this step.

No. Your truck does not have the Perimeter Plus Alarm, which is basically a shock sensor, from the factory regardless of trim level. I believe the factory alarm will only activate if (a) you open the door without unlocking the truck or (b) you set off the interior motion sensors in the front seats. So without the add on shock sensor, someone can take a baseball bat to your truck, break all the window, and nothing will happen unless they open the door or climb through the front window. The shock sensor on the Perimeter Plus Alarm module has an adjustable sensitivity knob.

More than just A and B will set off the factory alarm. I started to jack the truck (2018 SCREW 802A / tech) up with a floor jack to do a tire rotation one day and had not yet unlocked / unarmed the vehicle, about the time the left rear tire came off the ground the alarm went off. So there is at least one other sensor (or another use of the same sensors), I don't know if it is motion or level.

Kick it old school and wire in a kill switch. Won’t be able to remote start but at least your truck is still there when you get back. #madmax

Thank you to all the forum members for all your tips about how to resolve this vulnerability. I understand that if a thief wants to break in bad enough they will but I have much more peace of mind now that this blatant attack point is gone. Thanks to texasflyer for your photos, it was really helpful.

I have a 2019 802a SCREW and there was a tab on the door frame that no matter how much material i removed from the door handle, it would not clear, so I ended up bending it back and it snapped away. It looks like its meant for one of the plastic guide posts on the door handle to help center it in the door, which when installing the passenger handle is completely useless as it is nonexistent on the handle body. The most challenging part for me was removing the door release cable from the old handle and installing it on the new one. Other than that, it took me about an hour to do this job. I'd say this job is 1-2 bananas out of 5, depending on your comfort with tools and taking things apart.

This is the before, and after of the tab inside the door. Please excuse the grime on the paint. The weather and roads have been nasty the last few days.

I also installed the perimeter plus upgrade earlier this week, took a whole 10 minutes, that's with me applying double sided tape to the module. Didn't feel like the aluminum bracket was worth the cost and shipping. Thanks again to the members of this forum for bringing these security issues up and allowing me address them.

Had the non keyed door handle, truck vault & Ravelco installed first week I got the truck.

San Antonio is not a safe place for Fords....

Bought a 2019 in Austin on Friday and drove it to San Antonio (small end-of-Spring-Break getaway with the kiddos). Someone broke in on Saturday afternoon...in the middle of the day in the hotel parking lot. Ended up driving home that night instead of going to dinner and enjoying the rest of the weekend. Now to see if I can convince the insurance compnay and whoever is going to repair the door to put the passenger side handle on.

Same happened to me. Bought mine in Houston, drove to San Antonio to sleep for the night and they stole the whole truck. Had it for 10 hours. Welcome to Texas. I won't set foot there again if at all possible.

Wow that sucks. Please don’t judge the whole state based on that town. There are some good parts. There are also good parts of SA, as long as you valet park and Uber around.

Well that’s not my only reason for judging the state, but it certainly didn’t help. It’s just not the place for me. I’m sure there’s plenty of good parts I haven’t seen just unfortunately have not had a good experience in Texas. Not saying it’s a bad place, I’m just saying I personally don’t enjoy it.

Well great. With all of the people moving to TX from other states has made it not such a great place anymore. Thankfully you don't like TX and we don't have to worry about you moving here. Now if you could tell all of the people in the West to stay there we'd appreciate it.

Austin had 6 shootings this weekend.

As a native Texan I've seen the entire state go down hill and it will continue unfortunately.
