So I bought a 2019 Gen2, with under 100k miles. 2 owner, no wrecks and oasis report showed warranty work as well as ford pass showing service history. Less than 2000 miles of driving rod bearing or main bearing issue. I have Ally Major Guard warranty 2 years 30k miles. It’s been at Ford for a little over 3 weeks and they finally got a bay free to look at it, tear it down, Ally sends a rep to inspect damage and record video of the engine noise and confirm diagnostic. So now Ally is getting records from the dealership that sold it to me. They want the inspection report that the dealer did. I don’t see how you can inspect main bearings and things internal but I get it lol. However the dealer isn’t going any further than the crappy car fax junk dealers use. Car fax is in Sourh America , and literally only report what they have reported via insurance and partial dealer or service records. The car fax showed 0 about the work under warranty from the Ford dealerships.
So this isn’t an issue for me or the repair, just part of the process since I barely drove the truck. 0 mods btw. Here’s what’s funny, I called Ally and asked what is meant by a new engine to them. So they said whoever is servicing the repair really has that decision, it can be new long or short block, remanufactured engine not oem, used from a wreck was also an option from a junkyard. So I asked the warranty guy, so you’re getting with the dealership that I bought the truck and warranty from and want to see the inspection report and whatever else, but you would put an engine from a junkyard in a vehicle , he said yes. So my next question was, well what’s the service or inspection history on the used engine and how do you know what could be wrong with the engine from the wreck and all of the details you want from the dealer now. He said well that’s a good point…….
So Ford is saying new long block which is good news I guess….i say I guess because the dealer is going to purchase this truck back from me and are looking for another raptor now. Should I keep it , will the resale value be terrible with the engine replacement ? 3yr 36k warranty from ford on the engine plus my 2 year warranty I have from Ally.
Thoughts?
