I got my truck in '09 so there wasn't any 6.2's but if there was I for sure would have paid an extra few bucks. Gas milage doesn't matter sewing as I get 9-13mpg in the 5.4.

I like my 5.4.
You can get into enough trouble with it. I do way more pavement driving than I would like to admit to, so IMHO the better mileage is an asset that outweighs the additional HP. Even with the 5.4 I can go over the Sierras fast enough to get an invite to see the inside of a courtroom.

I got the 5.4 just as the 6.2 was being offered. I tried to to keep the cost of the Raptor down as much as possible and I did a good job ($35k out the door). At the time all those crazy, jumping, ass hauling, dirt spraying videos from Ford and others were all 5.4L trucks. It looked fast enough, so I figured I'd save a couple grand. Also, at the time, the estimated torque spec for the 6.2L was not much better than the 5.4L. Now, after it came into full production, the 6.2L numbers are much better.

Off road, this truck and I can keep up with a 6.2L, no problem, but it struggles some when towing. I'm looking into forced induction to get the torque way up. I'm never too impressed with HP numbers, these heavy beasts need torque, and lots of it!

Honestly, if I could go back and do it again, I'd get the 6.2L. Now I'm holding out for the EccoBoost Raptor.:birgits_tiredcoffee

I had a 5.4 Raptor, Saved for the 6.2. No contest in power. With that being said the 5.4 with 4.10 gears was pretty good to tho.
