I tried doing a search, but couldnt find a thread that matched my question below.

Do any of the 5.4 guys wish they would have got the 6.2 and vise versa. Do the owners of the 6.2 wish they would have gone with the smaller 5.4? If so, why ( power/torque, cost, towing, gas mileage, or ? )

MODS - feel free to move this if needed.

There really hasn't been any time I wish I had gotten the 6.2. As a daily driver, I'm much happier averaging 16+mpg. I can run E85 if I'm by a station that sell it. I have never had an issue where I need more power. I have always had more than enough power to pass at any speed with ease even up the steepest hill while towing.
Even off road in sand I have had more than enough power to power slide the biggest corners and pull 90+ down the flats. If you know how to drive, this trucks power will really surprise you. Even the dirt bike guys struggle to keep up.

i had a 5.4 in my 2010 lariat prior to getting my 2011 Raptor. I think both motors have plenty of power and driving skills will interpret results. That being said though, I just love the beast of the 6.2. To me, its a different animal with a very unique Rumble in the exhaust note. Love the go pedal as well, might be why my gas mileage is a lot lower than those with the 5.4. I did not buy it for gas mileage though. I bought it for shear fun and my personal enjoyment. My vote is the 6.2.

I will always take more horsepower for less gas milage especially in a truck like the Rap. I have the 6.2 and would love to have even more power.

I've never bought a vehicle (aside from the Mach1 vs. Cobra) that had an optional larger engine and didn't get that engine. I mean, I want to have the highest power output to get out of someplace in a hurry if I had to. I mean, why would you want nothing less?

It's kinda like, well yeah, she is a supermodel and wants my ****, but I'll just take the fat chick that wants to hold hands.

Screw that.

When I bought, the dealer already had it on the lot. the 6.2s were brand new and no one in the area had gotten one yet. If they had the 6.2 there I would have gotten that for sure. Why get a smaller motor? its 100hp! I would recommend the 6.2.
In my opinion as a 5.4 owner, the 5.4 does great and have no regrets.

I love the quotes coming out of this thread... :ROFLJest:

I guess if you're gonna be a bear, might as well be a grizzly right.

Seems like to 6.2 is pulling away (literally)
