JDM said not to use it? Are you sure about that.
If you get enough crap getting into the fuel mixture it could cause detention.
I wouldn't run without it on my Whipple, I'm sorry I waited a year before installing it.

Yea Nick and Jim Jr both told me not to bother with it. Said we aren't running enough timing/boost for it to really matter and it could just be more of a source for vacuum leaks. Also over time with repeat dyno runs hadn't seen a difference with them other than negative issues with vacuum. He told me they don't put them on any trucks they mod and I believe Shelby and Roush models don't have them either. I've been pretty hard on it and haven't experienced any detonation issues as long as 91 fuel or better your probably good man. I just figured it simplifies the system a bit without it and those guys see a lot more modded up raptors than I do.

Ok,
Both popular kits are very well put together and when installed right there won't be any leaks.
I'm glad I didn't let all this crap go into my compressor fins and coating intercooler killing the efficiency of heat transfer.
Then what ever doesn't stick goes right on into the combustion chamber fowling everything up.
This is almost two years worth. Only 93 octane

Going from this to that sure doesn't look pretty.

An update, I've always stated that the drivers side PCV is really just a breather and there isn't a need for a catch can.
Well I upgraded my TB for the Whipple and have looked at the old TB and I do see a light film of black oil on the back side of the twin blades.
The front of the blades are super clean.
But there was a very light film on the inside of the intake tube from where the driver's side PCV hose connects to, to the TB
The tube from the passenger side catch can is also clean, so that can is doing it's job.
You couldn't really see the oil after three + years on the paper towel I used to clean the intake tube, so it's not a lot that does get in.

In any case after three + years being SC,
I guess I'll have to get a can for the drivers side to catch the very, very small amount of oil that seems to come up out of the driver's side valve cover.

Update:

I just order Moroso's new Air-Oil Separator with a clear bottom, now I don't have to unscrew it all the time to check it.
This will be installed on the drivers side valve cover.

Part#: 85683, it's a universal kit, comes in small and large, black or satin.

I ordered mine from Summit Racing $194.97 free shipping

Looks good MTF.
Moroso thinking outside of the box.
Very nice kit that allows for a visual now.
I may have to order just the bottom clear plastic catch bowl for my set-up.
Moroso may have engineering changes that won't allow for this though.

I would like to get the clear bowl as well. Let us know if you find out...

Good News!
The Moroso small body aluminum bottom can be changed out for the small body clear bottom.
Moroso Part #97301
This is only for SMALL BODY air/oil catch can kits.
I could not find any online sources that stock this item, so I ordered from Lethal Performance in Florida.
I originally purchased my air/oil catch can kit from them too.
Moroso stocks these and will drop ship to my front door via UPS.
Prices ranged from $77 to $88 from the online sources that I had checked.

I found this Youtube video showing a Moroso clear body catch can in use.
Moroso is testing it on a 2009 Cadillac CTS-V.
