One thing the article did not mention at all was "Raptor killer"... nor did they compare to a stock Raptor... the closest they came was to compare it to the Raptor XT and only in the sense that it's not street legal.
frog brought up one point that is still great about the USA in my opinion... the ability to legally work on and modify your vehicle within reason.
The owner of a vehicle is not subject to the same laws as the manufacturer. Heck, you can build your own car and not have to meet most of the standards.
I don't believe that an owner installing prerunner bumpers or suspension kits is illegal at all... with the exception of some of the extreme "lift kits" or "lowering kits" that violate state standards (varies by state). Nor do those parts need to be "certified" for highway use... you can make them in your garage.
In contrast, other countries won't let an owner so much as replace a headlight themselves... you can't even buy the parts legally.
