I've had these ProComp 8128 wheels as my Summer wheel/tire set-up since I had my 2010 SCab, then when I upgraded to my '12 SCrew I kept them as I really liked them. However, I was kinda getting sick of the look in the last year and was thinking about changing the wheels up. But then I realized what I really didn't like about the ProComps was the tall, ugly chrome centre caps. Unfortunately since they mount from the front via snap-rings and are slightly larger than the Method caps, I couldn't take advantage of Vince's custom aluminum caps. Since they are plastic, I thought maybe I could cut them down, glue them back together and paint them....which is exactly what I did...and I think that they turned out fantastic!

Basically, I cut the top off, then cut 50 mm (~2 inches) out of the body of the cap and then glued the top to the ring.I used a table saw with a thin tooth blade and the cuts were so clean I didn't need to smooth out with Bondo or putty. Then I primed and painted them with Duplicolor Gloss Black...they look factory!

I love my ProComp wheels again! I'll get some full truck pix with the modded caps later.

So for you guys with ugly front mount plastic centre caps...there is an option and it's not hard!
