Guys, having had both Gen 1 and Gen 2 and this my honest assessment of the two trucks. I had my 12 screw SCT tuned, CAI and cat back MBRP exhaust and it was noticeably faster with the mods and in my humble opinion the way it should've came from the factory. My Gen 2 has ABSOLUTELY zero turbo lag and is noticeably faster and much quicker right off of an idle and just way faster right through the entire range than my Gen 1. The 6.2 had more "turbo" lag right off of an idle than 3.5 does. I'm dead serious that the Gen 2 has more bottom end grunt and more gitty up from a stop than my Gen 1 had. I spoke with the guys at 5 Star the day I got my truck and they're saying 4-6 wks before they've got anything for it but they also said that Gen 2s will definitely respond very well tuned.

I have owned two gen 1's and am waiting on my gen 2 to be delivered. After reading this thread I'm not sure I have a home anymore. Gen 2 guys hate me now because I drive a gen 1 and in a few weeks gen 1 guys will hate me.

Having owned a Gen1 for many years, with countless off road trips under my belt... I had the privilege of riding in a new Gen2 yesterday, including some off roading.

My impressions:
- Much faster than the first generation, both on dirt and pavement (well duh!)
- The fit and finish is incredible inside and out, it's a thing of beauty
- The different modes, while maybe handy, will also be confusing to many
- The suspension felt MUCH better than the Gen1 out of the box, including hitting some pretty good g-outs and never bottoming the suspension out
- Overall, the truck seems just "better" and more solid in every way, with the exception of the hotly debated exhaust note.

One thing that REALLY bothered us, was that you could not enable Baja Mode with 2WD and the rear diff locked! This is quite surprising, and a STAPLE of the Gen1 off-roading for many of us... You can, however, do this in normal sport mode, but then the shifting pattern and off-road calibrations for ABS and Traction are different! This is a big frustration. Then again, maybe we're missing something.

Overall, super impressed with the truck. But for the prices they're demanding for these things right now, I'd personally be hesitant to take it off road, especially when loaded with all the tech package goodies. The truck is just too damn nice.

Am I seeing things a ghost from the past! How are you and what are you doing? Great feedback on the Gen2. Are you getting one???

Ha! I'm not dead yet... just took a break from this site when it was at it's poisonous peak. Although, coming back and reading some of these Gen1 vs. Gen2 posts, holy crap! It's like an all out war around here.

Won't be getting a Gen2 until they at least are selling for sticker. I'd be awfully tempted at that point.

AGREED.

I didn't notice ANY perceivable lag, if anything it was WAY more powerful right off idle. Especially because you can brake-boost it and the sucker JUMPS off the line!

You're just ahead of the curve. The rest will convert or fade away.

I can only speak for myself, I have a lot of respect for the G1 guys who don't whine like a bunch of ******* and are open minded. You seem to fall into that category. Heck, I wanted a G1 when they came out, but wasn't able to justify any truck at the time, let alone the Raptor.

It is the minority of the guys who never quite made it out of high school, who toast my **** a bit. They think they've been there and done "ALL" of that since what 2010? Hardly.

Anyway, no animosity from this G2 ordered person.

Why do you guys take this so serious ? This thread got 8000 views in 2-3 days. Its the old school giving the new school crap. F150 5.0's crack on Ecoboost , Mustang 5.0 crack on 2.3 ecoboost. Ecoboost is the RED HEADED STEP CHILD always will be. Gen Won 6.2 is better. We have 10 more spark plugs than you.

Go Drill your intercooler weep hole now :baby:

I don't take most of it serious at all. Just get used to seeing a helluva lot of this in 2017.
