Costco is the best deal in town for M1 (it goes on sale every 3 months). And they only just started carrying 5w-20 about 6 months ago.

Freedom: any opinions about the Donaldson power core air filter? Would it be ok for off-road? It's supposed to be maintenance free for 100k miles

The Donaldson air filter is a great filter. It is one of, if not the best air filter on the market in my opinion. They advertise that it can hold two pounds of dirt before clogging. That being said, they also say that it can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or very low psi air just blowing through it, I have found that that isn't the case. I have tried to do that in the past with the Donaldson air filters and you don't really get a lot of the dirt out like you do when you clean an oiled filter like a K&N wet gauze filter. Also, because it is a dry filter (and this applies to all dry filters) while they are great at stopping dust and dirt, I would kep in mind that they aren't going to keep water out of the intake tube. Even if you are running a so called "fully sealed" intake, there is no intake available that is completely water proof and if you go hammering through water to the point that it is making it to the intake, you are going to get some water in the intake itself and risk getting that water into the intake tube. This puts you at risk of getting water in the engine through the throttle body, so be very careful there.

I have sold a lot of the Donaldson filters over the years and have never had any complaints.

^ FWIW - Walmart typically carries the 5 quart jug containers of Mobil 1 oil for around $22-24 if you don't want to wait around for another Costco sale to stock up.

No doubt the 5 gallon jug at walmart is a deal but trying to pour a 5-gallon jug of oil into 6.2L filler hole is not an easy task. The filler hole on the 6.2L is slanted which means the funnel is barely on. So you need one hand to hold the funnel and one hand to pour the 5-gallon just. This creates a situation of lots of spillage. Pouring a 1-quart container is much easier on a raptor.
