Flipping supposed to be a big snow storm in the mid-atlantic yesterday. Just 7 miles south of the White House we got 1" of snow and 1" of sleet and freezing rain.
Fast forward - this morning I go out - crank the defroster and 10 minutes later jump into the cozy cab of my '18 rig.

Out go the mirrors - NOT - they won't deploy. I had to break out my trusty Microtech UDT and bust out the ice that mucked up the pivot point for the mirrors.

NOTE TO SELF - Next time they are calling for a snow/sleet/freezing rain event - DO NOT FOLD YOUR MIRRORS.

... move to a warmer climate!

I felt your NoVA pain for far too many years, and that happened to me before once as well but not as bad as you had it.

Stay safe. Anytime I had to drive in real inclement weather in NoVA I was filled with dread. it was always the other drivers I was most concerned about.

That is why I keep a can of deicer in my truck. Works on mirrors and the occasional froze lock.

As a Florida boy, I would've never even considered this. Thanks for posting. I do winter roadtrips all the time, and since this is the first time I'll be taking the Raptor up and I've set Lincoln mirrors in Forscan, I'll keep that in mind!

One of many reasons I'm thankful my truck fit's nice and comfortably in my garage. Scraping snow/ice off the truck before going to work sucks!

That said, I appreciate this humorous tip. I'll keep this in mind.
