Very interesting thread! Is there a way to visually see if a mid perch has been done without taking off the tires? I'm pretty sure it hasn't been done on my truck, but I bought it used. The owner told me his only mod was the rims/tires. I wanted to ask here before trying to reach out to the previous owner. Thanks.

If you go to page 1 @Reptar has a few pictures, look at the picture of the front view of the shock, you will see the machined grove under the spring perch.

If you look at the blue spring perch, the groves are on the aluminum shock body/ silver section below the blue perch.

Alrighty guys! So I'm stumped! I took my truck in for an alignment and rotation this morning to a reliable Ford dealer. I asked them about the mid perch and if they do the work (just curious about pricing). After looking over my truck, they said that my struts aren't adjustable, and that they seem to be aftermarket. They said it doesn't need any replacement parts and is in good shape (phew), but alignment and camber are way out of wack and will need the alignment work. My question for you pros out there: Does this seem right? The truck is stock, so why would there be aftermarket struts? Any advice/input would be greatly appreciated.

I called a local off-road shop and they said they can do the mid perch mod for me for $600. That seems a little pricey. I don't feel comfortable doing the mod myself, but for $600, is it worth it (directed to those who have it done already). As for my strut issue from Ford, I'm just going to take it to the off-road shop and have them look over the truck. I bought it stock (minus rims/tires), so I'm not sure what Ford saw.

I don't feel comfortable doing the mod myself, but for $600, is it worth it (directed to those who have it done already). Sounds like that Ford dealership knows very little about Raptors so you're better off taking it to an off-road shop.

IMO, $600 is too much for the mid perch mod even if that includes an alignment. I think I paid around $200 plus alignment. Shop around and find a better price. I think there are a few forum supporting vendors in your area so that might be a good place to start.

Couple days late, but since it's my several year old thread that was bumped I'll post up lol

Definitely sounds like that ford dealership doesn't know raptors, if you have OEM SVT suspension and they're saying it's aftermarket. It's no surprise though, the dealer that my Raptor was courtesy delivered to when I bought it was all confused that it showed up on the same transport as other vehicles from the train yard, they didn't know how that happened because they kept telling me that ford builds it as a regular f150 then it's sent to fox to convert into a Raptor lol. Amazes me how uninformed many dealerships are on even the simplest details.

That off road shop is taking you for a ride. 600 is wayyyyy too much. You need to compress the spring, slide the collar up to the next perch, and align it. It's nowhere near 600 in labor. They're charging you for a lift kit that you don't need because the adjustability is built in from the factory. It's been a long time, but I think I paid around $250 or so from KHC with alignment. $300 or less it's a no brainer if it includes alignment. Double that is just the shop ripping you off. Keep hunting, there's definitely gotta be raptor friendly places out by you in CA.
