I just dont understand why Ford would even consider putting a plastic oil and trans pan on an $80k High Performance truck. Weight savings is minimal, performance is worse since plastic "composite" does not shed heat as well as metal and plastic burns, metal doesnt. The only reason is a few bucks cost savings for more profit on parts that most owners will never notice. The Director of Value Engineering got a Bonus for this one! I would have gladly paid $200 more for my truck to get metal oil pans! On the contrary, if I had known the 2017's had plastic pans, I would not have bought one!!! This is what is wrong with American Manufacturers! Penny Wise and Pound Foolish!!! They let Beancounters make design & build decisions.

Luckily, I have an early build 2017 and do not have any oil pan leak issues but still want to replace it with a metal pan eventually. Afe makes a nice aluminum trans pan with heat fins for our trucks but no oil pan. Can anyone recommend a good aftermarket oil pan and oil pump for 2017 Raptor SCREW?

Thanks, HT

Wow, you are sure riled up for a POTENTIAL issue you don't even have. You may need to step back and re-prioritize some shit in your life. Is there a weed shortage in Vegas? :)

Oh, and where's the guy that always says "That's unacceptable for an $80k truck"?

WOW, plastic oil pans are unacceptable, cost cutting on Ford's Premier truck even more unacceptable. Profit is fine but profit above quality and the customer is not. Ford eliminated the backlight on the console gear indicator in 2018 for Value Engineering! What are they saving? $1 per truck? Pure BEANCOUNTER BS! If you are OK with it thats how they get away with it.

I dont have an issue YET with leaks but that yellow plastic 1/4 turn oil pan drain plug is pure CRAP! If I do get any plastic oil pan leaks they will happen one month after the warranty is up and Ford will say "oh well"! I cannot stand an oil dripper.

The guys that dont want Ford Cost Cuts on their Raptors are all over the FRF blogs. Are you a Ford Value Engineer? You seem mighty defensive...

And there is absolutely no shortage of Weed in Las Vegas. Its 100% legal. How do you think we survive the heat here in July?

Somebody posted a reply with a procedure to change the oil pan without pulling the engine. Otherwise, Ford says the engine has to be pulled to replace the oil pan with 6 hours labor. They'll bill you to swap plastic for metal but they will not do under it warranty even if the plastic pan is leaking. Only plastic to plastic.

Lets do a Class Action Lawsuit to get Ford to replace ALL Raptor Plastic Engine and Trans Oil Pans with Metal! Thats the only way theyll do it.

Class action lawsuit? That's rich. Even a ****** lawyer wouldn't touch that one. It's a non-issue for most and it seems the dealers are replacing the ones with issues. How were you harmed Sir?

Not yet with leaks. But I was almost burned with motor oil when changing my oil the first time with their quater turn cheap crap yellow plastic drain plug that allows 6 gallons of oil to gush out in a second or 2. Half of it shot right out of the drain pan and onto my garage floor. My point is that Ford seems to ignore those owners that were harmed. They simply replace the plastic one with another plastic oil pan that ends up leaking again. Ford should have never used plastic. Cheapo cost cutting!

Ford realized they had a problem and changed over to metal oil pans in mid 2018. But they will not retrofit existing plastic oil pans to metal. So that leaves all of us that bought 2017 and early 2018 Raptors holding the bag. Mine has not failed YET but if it fails after warranty is Ford still going to replace it? Time for us all to contact DOT! Make Ford do a RECALL.

Are you a lawyer GCATX? I dont know about you but I am not OK with Ford substituting cheapo plastic crap for metal on an $80,000 suppossedly top of the line truck. Forget the decals and put the money into the guts of the truck! I bought this truck expecting it to last 20 years.

One of the first things i did after getting home with my new truck was pop the hood and see what differences i could see from the first gen Eco. I was surprised as to how much more plastic had replaced metal parts in the next gen. I joke around with my buddies, if Ford could we would have plastic engine blocks.

How can some owners have continued and multiple leaks and others with 2 years of ownership have none?

Has to be more than just the pan to blame .

I got one of the first batch of 2017 Raptors and mine is still good. It's just that the oil plug that worth the worry. Not sure if that just might blew a leak or strip on pressure, I got 3 just incase, and still hadn't needed one yet.
