Anyone in the market for a new Raptor is 100%, absolutely affected by the gotta have it RIGHT ******* NOW shopper willing to just throw away money for the privilege of having the Raptor.

I’m trying real hard to give a damn.

Nope. Can’t do it.
I might could consider giving a damn if I didn’t have to run the gauntlet of swindling attempts in order to buy whatever vehicle I wanted over the years.

If you don’t need the commodity, you have options. That’s a good situation to be in. What about Super Duty’s? Those guys in Canada with the big rigs mucking things up right now, they’re a huge part of the supply chain. But a lot of the stuff they haul or within 1-2 layers are the guys and gals who have enough money for 1 vehicle to do it all; the big @ss Super Duty that hauls their hay, crops, firewood, family to work/school/church/synagogue/mosque/circle, range, pickup feed for livestock. They’re the ones who do the producing, growing of things and all.

These guys aren’t necessarily recreational purchasers and I know that’s a different use case than the Raptor, but the ADM is on heavy duty trucks also.
If the guy who wants the SD to haul his 911 track car pays 40k over to get the truck, you can rest assured some podunk farmer isn’t getting it. Yeah, they’ll land something eventually but the collateral effect is real.

LOL. Good point.

So, they’re not taking advantage of us now?
The happy medium isn’t in the middle, it’s heavily skewed against government intervention, but that’s not what the original topic was about, it was more centered around outrageous to us overcharges for the Raptor. There’s plenty of that out there for sure.

That’s a fair point.

A lot of people on FRF are PI$$ED at Ford, their stealerships, and the industry but others have hinted at it or said it outright.

The real enemy is right here on FRF; it’s US.
We’re the ones paying the money for the truck, and a subset of us are overpaying for it, willingly. This is why there are ADM or over MSRP pricing.
Never said they weren't taking advantage of us now or in the past, the list of instances could be as long as the distance to moon and back multiple times.

Also, if I'm not correct I did, earlier in the thread, mention that Ford is addressing unreasonable/outrageous ADMs. The dealerships should be the target of distain because they buy the vehicles from Ford and then do as they please and charge whatever they want, hence Manufacturers SUGGESTED Retail Price (MSRP).........

Slaying smurfs?? Must be really difficult slaying tiny little blue imaginary beings LOL. :33:

They’re everywhere I tell you.

I hope not to find out.

But a point I was trying to make earlier was that we’re the ones paying outrageous overcharges for the trucks, so can we really blame the dealers for charging fees that at least some of us are willing to pay?

I’m not excusing this from stealerships, it’s over the top in a lot of instances, but the disdain needs to be spread to those paying the overcharges too, shouldn’t we?

I say ‘we’ but full disclosure I’m not shopping for a ’21-’22. That said, we’re kind of all in it together.

LOL, just hard to catch, they're wily little buggers!

We are also talking about a vehicle that is not mass produced and has a fairly limited supply.

I don't blame them at all. Here in NJ you can't touch a Raptor for MSRP, unfortunately most are purchased with high ADMs and will never see the dirt unless it's a gravel driveway, ugh.

I can't totally agree with hating on those that pay ADM because we don't know their specific circumstances for doing so. Some business owners buy them for their business/wife and don't really care how much they cost or how high the ADM is. Then you may have folks that don't want to or can't travel and do the leg work to find one out of state for MSRP, so they pay ADM (you could say the ADM is kind of the cost of convenience). The excessive ADMs are out of control and until the consumer doesn't have enough money to absorb them, they will continue to be paid unfortunately.

Roger that man, we are no doubt all in it together!

I do not hate on anyone paying ADM, that is there choice to do it.

I won't do it, and a matter of fact most local dealers are selling to their friends and families all the while the GMs are taking Raptor allocations. It is a game I am not playing at all. As a matter of fact without the technology the Gen 3 is not as good looking of a truck as the Gen 2 is.

If I am paying 80-100k for a Raptor then I am going to just wait out a Hummer EV allocation. 0-60 in 3 seconds and 9 thousand lbs plus the removable roof. I like it a lot better for the money.

Plus I can laugh at Raptor owners paying 100-150 bucks to fill up while I pay 0-10 bucks.

It's just don't see it as all that complicated. Several difference forces at work here. No problem with a business maximizing profit from a sale. No problem with a business also set a price below what they can get in order to build loyalty and volume of sales. No problem with a consumer negotiating for the lost price they can get, and choosing not to purchase.

One point I haven't seen though is that not all customers are concerned with getting the lowest price. Plenty are happy to pay ADM to a dealer, and while do it again, if the dealer makes the process easy for them and can get them a new vehicle easily, without wait, the next time. So it may seem like ADMs kills customer loyalty, but it can do the opposite for the customers where money is no object...which is really the best kind of customer to have.

I'll be honest, I'm really not the best customer for a dealer. I've never even paid MSRP for a vehicle, and don't think I've ever even bought more than one vehicle from the same dealer. I take the dealer badge off my vehicle the moment it's off the lot, and I never tell people how create a dealer is at parties. All they are getting from me is the profit off the single vehicle sale, so can't blame them for wanting to maximize that.

Just emailed Ford corporate to expose a few local dealerships that are blatantly abusing the market. They are currently building cases against many dealerships that will end up resulting in them losing their future allocations and dealer stock and having them reverted to more honest dealerships that breed long term customer relationships. They said this is across ALL models not just Bronco or f150 lightning. I would implore everyone that see these absurd mark ups to email them as well. I don’t think 2k 5k or even 7.5k for a 37pp is out of the question in today’s market it is after all a free market and it is a SUGGESTED retail price but 10k, 20k, sometimes even more is absolutely absurd and just plain greedy. This doesn’t bode well for customers that have been loyal for many years.

The emails to send these complaints are

“Abuse?” Capitalism is a bitch, ain’t it? If the market sustains the prices, they are finding a balance in the market. Sure…I’d prefer to pay less, but that’s not how our market works.

Been absent for a few months due to some personal reasons and a career change. With that though, my new career is at a ford dealership, that does msrp with no adm on all new order vehicles.
I’d be happy to place an order for a Raptor R when that order book opens up. And I’d ensure you get a nice, large, cash “thank you” for ensuring it’s placed. :)
