My problem started Sunday and is intermittent but seems to be becoming more consistent:
  • My interior map and cargo lights have begun strobing/flickering on and off. Regardless of the door(s) being open or closed
  • My AMP running boards deploy and retract at random
  • A message pops up on my screen saying Front Camera malfunction service required and occasionally a message about power steering assist. The last (2) key cycles I also got a message saying Dimming
  • My rear bed/cargo window will randomly open and then the switch will not respond to operate it until I cycle the key several times
I took it to the dealer while it was acting up so they could see it with their own eyes to see if it is something my extended warranty will cover, but was told I had to many aftermarket accessories (3 light bars and onboard air) and would be better off taking it somewhere else.

I have gone through and checked, cleaned, and tightened the grounds to the battery and to body under the hood (2) by the battery (1) by the air filter. I also checked the ground at the BCM at the passenger kick panel and it is tight and looks to be ok. I have gone through the fuses/relays to make sure they are seated. Yesterday while I was cleaning up the grounds under the hood, I could hear a relay clicking constantly. I think it was Relay #82 (PDRG close relay) so I will look into that more but I am at a loss trying to figure this one out. I was able to pull some codes with ForScan (attached) but I am not sure how helpful they will be. I have also tried resetting the PCM, BCM, APIM and a few other modules in ForScan but so far no luck. Any ideas?

Do your Amp running boards plug into the OBD2 port? If so start by disconnecting that; aftermarket electronics are known to cause communication issues on the factory vehicle networks.

Yes sorry. Unplugging the AMP steps from the OBDII port does not change anything other than the steps don't work. The error messages and lights stay the same.

To validate that you’ll need to unplug them and clear all DTCs, have you tried that? Are there any other aftermarket circuits spliced into the factory wiring?

Thanks for the reply. I do not have an OBDII splitter, so I have to unplug the AMP steps to hook up ForScan. I have tried several times to clear the DTCs with the steps unplugged. I have (3) light bars and an on-board air compressor hooked up to the upfitter switches.

That sucks. I would start by disconnecting the aftermarket stuff. I would have guessed there would been alot more codes. If a relay is constantly clicking it may not be getting enough power or ground. The rear window opening is odd. It’s a switch and a relay. I would make sure the upfitter console isn't wet. You have IPMA wiring and obviously the rear window switch up there. May be worth looking up.

Thanks for the input.

I believe the relay that was clicking is to close the rear cargo window. I think there are (2) relays for it, one to open and one to close and they are side by side, but I may be mistaken. I am still trying to check all the grounds. I will look into the upfitter console.

Have you load tested the battery?
Yes sir. It dropped to 10.6v while starting
