couldn't you rub the current plug against a magnet to magnetize it????

yes and no. The magnetism would not last. And you would want a really really strong magnet or it would not work. In other words, the stronger the magnet the more effective it would be.

I just called a company that specializes in magnetic drain plugs and they are going to call me back within an hour.

couldn't you rub the current plug against a magnet to magnetize it????

The threads on the drain plug are M14x1.5. Just Google "M14 drain plug" and you'll find there are about a gazillion of them available. I wouldn't recommend one that's made of aluminum.

What's the diameter of the oil filter? I'd like to order an oil filter magnet. I'm unsure of the filter size and unfortunately I'm away from the house, so I can't measure my own.
