Ok, I was a schmuck and did not record this. I deserve whatever criticism I receive for that stupid maneuver. Generally, I’d say that what I heard on the websites are pretty accurate...not perfect but a pretty good representation of what I heard in person. Yes to all you’ve stated above, but the bigger problem is trying reproduce the real world on to an iPhone, iPad or computer and expect that to sound “real world”. With that said, the MagnaFlow was unquestionably and deeper and more guttural than anything else. Their website recording is pretty close, but deeper, and heavier than what my speaker can reproduce. The Borla was definitely higher pitched and raspier than what is recorded or what my speaker can reproduce. After listening to both of those, a quick listen to the FlowMaster would place the FlowMaster pretty much in the middle of the other two. The FlowMaster sounded a bit like my wife’s Jaguar F-Pace S. Because this is a V-6, none can really sound like my former Mercedes AMG V-8’s, where the sound is deep and heavy. As I think about it, the MagnaFlow was probably more like my BMW M series V-8’s. To my ears, the Borla was just abrasive...and I have to admit that no one person in the shop liked what they heard at all. It was unanimous (about a dozen people) that the Borla was way too high pitched and raspy to the point that some were actually covering their ears and grimacing.
