Is there a safe way to make the exhaust a lot louder without having to buy parts? i.e. Removing something that wont hurt the engine.

You could remove the factory resonator and install a straight pipe in its place. I am not sure what kind of sound that would produce but it would certainly be a little louder.

There are plenty of cheap muffler options out there too. To have a muffler welded in place of your stock "trash can" sized muffler would be a big help and probably on the better side of $250 all said and done.

I did a Flowmaster 10 series turned down and it's fairly loud with very little drone. I've $200 into everything from the flange back. That includes 6' of 3" tube, 1 muffler and a turn down.

I had a few executives from Magnaflow and Rutledge Wood's in my truck one night and they kept telling me how great it sounded, then I finally told them it wasn't one of their products. Basically what I'm saying is if it impressed them it was well worth the $
