Looks like I'll be needing a bump kit soon.

Was rotating my tires today and found this on the left rear factory bump.

A matching mark is on the left rear strike pad, everything is still straight as a arrow though. I know exactly when and where it happened. It was a sand wash in Barstow, 50-70 mph average with some nice 6-10" sand whoops and the occasional G-out where the river cut at an angle across the wash (slowed for those though). I always listen to what the truck is doing when I take her out and I remember hearing the two impacts from the left rear during this run. Guess its time to invest in a bump kit before I bend more than the bump. I'm honestly surprised it has taken me this long to reach the limits of the rear suspension, I'm thoroughly impressed.

Looks like the rear leaf did some rubbing to.

If I lived where you live, I'd install more than just a bump kit... On a serious note, definitely looks like you could use one.

Yeah looks like it's probably time. It's funny how all the guys who have actually done damage on some level or another know EXACTLY what bump did it. That's how I was, but of course my bump got my frame and right rear shock. I thought mine was still fairly straight but it was one of the worst the guys at RPG had seen. pull your bump off and put a straight edge on that area and see what you come up with.

Would love to, but I have too many other hobbies that are taking up the play money. Race season is coming up, and I'll easily be going through a set of slicks a weekend at $400 a pop. At least with the bike I only have to buy two tires though.

I think I'm good on the damage being localized to that area. The witness mark on the strike pad is on the inner edge where the pad begins to slope upwards. The two particular hits where it happened were hit at 45 degree angles so when the left rear was fully compressed the right rear was probably drooping causing the strike pad to hit at an angle and not flush as it normally would. I'm guessing this is also how the leaf spring managed to rub on the lip of the access hole on the frame. Regardless, whats done is done and it will be nice having piece of mined once I pull the trigger on a bump kit.

I completely understand the idea of limited funds and lots of toys, but I think you would HATE yourself if you bent your frame knowing that it was preventable.

Agreed, but now I have a good idea of what the limits of the truck are and will just have to drive within them for the time being. Like I said the two wheeled toys will be eating up most of my free time so i doubt the Raptor will be seeing to much dirt for now.
