So what your saying is you will use MY truck for X amount of weeks to do all your R&D and to promote your company and your services. Then I will give YOU $5,000..BAHHHH..
It's not April is it?
Thanks anyway..

Have to agree with wiz, it's a win win deal for you and a real scam for the truck owner. Anyone that goes for this has more money than brains.

The key to the original post is:
This price is highly discounted from the normal retail price.

Of course, people rarely pay the normal retail price. So is it discounted enough to be worth the time without the vehicle and will they cover any damage that may be caused during testing?

It is not a bad deal or a great deal in my opinion and it looks like someone jumped at it.

I agree with you at some level Mark...At the end of the day the man will end up with a modified truck. I would not have a problem buying the $2,000 cams for this but I ask How much money will they make off of all R&D that goes into doing the first one?
I can tell you from my own experiences dealing with vendor's that most are very happy to provide the hole deal at no cost to the first guy.
I personally have the very first set of S.W. long tube headers for a 6.2 on my truck with a mandrel bent true dual pipes all the way out..
Stainless had my truck for 4 weeks and patterned a few different systems from it. For my sacrifice they GAVE my the hole system installed (and a bunch of Tee-shirts).
Now my end of this is I told them that I would be willing to have the truck on the dyno before and after and provide them with the H.P. gains (31) and help promote there product.(which I do) I would also be willing to let the truck be used in an promotional advertisings they may need it for.. (read Internet,Mag,T.V. Ect.)
I even offered to by the pipe but was told they will take care of that end..
Now thats how it should work..........Just saying....:idk:

:soapbox:

This reminds me of what a friend used to say to me when I raced in a few of the Mickey Thompson Stadium Series events.. "It's the only circus where the performers pay to perform"... My friend used to get upset because of the relatively high entry fees, low payback (prize money), and the perception that MTEG was making tons of money from the show the racers were putting on...

I never saw it that way... it was just a lot of fun... and an opportunity that could not be found anywhere else.

With this kind of deal there's no "should" in my opinion. Livernois has every right to charge whatever they feel is fair and each of us has the right to accept or reject the offer. Hell, there's probably someone out there who would pay full retail just to have the first one and/or get their name in a magazine!

Livernois has a great rep and that alone might make this deal worth it to someone who wants this mod but is afraid of all the "hack" shops out there.

If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Simple as that.

Yuppers,

Rigid lighting did the something with one of our members and I did it back when I made replacement plastic parts for older cars.

I've done the bleeding edge thing with a modern engine before (first on the planet 3rd gen Hemi with an aftermarket cam, first on the planet with aftermarket heads, first in the world stroker build started, first to fully utilize the only tuning option available...).

There absolutely is no "should". I worked with the companies developing the parts, I worked with the engine builders putting it all together, I worked with the tune package developers, I worked with the tuner, I personally developed software tools to help the process... it all takes time, effort and ultimately money.

The old saying is so true: "You gotta pay to play." Wiz, you paid. You gave up your truck for a month and you have become a walking billboard for that company basically. I paid in different ways. Whoever Livernois picked will be paying in a different way even still.

Again... there is no should. If you don't want to be out on the edge, no problem! Sit back and enjoy the view from the gallery. But don't throw peanuts at those on the stage.

I have the Raptor that is getting the camshaft swap at Livernois. I am still very excited--even after reading a few negative comments. For me, it is a deal. I don't have the tools, know-how, desire, or time to do each of those mods myself.

I also don't begrudge a quality company from making a buck or not totally giving things away. The guys at Livernois have bills too. If they make anything off my deal, God bless them, but it won't be enough considering the time it will take!

For the record, I don't want my name in the magazine, so that carries no value for me. I am excited to see the article and photos though.

Awesome Nut! Gratz on working it out with Livernois. For much of my build I was in the identical situation you are; I didn't have the tools, know-how, desire or time to do it myself either. So I found highly qualified folks to handle it for me. I don't think you could have chosen better with Livernois. They're on a short list of who I might call.

Keep us posted if you would? Really excited to follow along!

You wouldn't have your opportunity to get a cheap set of headers if it wasn't for me making phone calls and being the FIRST RAPTOR PERIOD with Stainless Works headers and I had to pay full price for my headers mid-pipe. So no vendors can charge whatever they want for R&D. No one is more connected to Ford Racing then Livernois Motorsports.
