Good Morning Gurus,

Out with the old in with the new. OEM shocks being replaced today with Fox 3.0's, RPG UCA and Tie Rods. The RPG LCA and IBS shock is on order and hopefully I will get those soon.
Do I need, or is there a benefit of Straps? Does the strap application even apply to this set up?

Thanks for any advice

No strap needed that shocks won't let the front suspension droop past the stock limits. But you might wanna look into rcv axles but make sure it's not the gen 1 I think they're new axles for the raptor are out but not sure

i have the same question and disagree with pat. i think you need limit straps to save the life of the shock. doesnt it make sense. when you go airborne the weight of the suspension suddenly dropping stresses the shocks?

i guess i dont really care what people have to say, other than tech facts on limits. how do you measure? from what i understand most straps stretch a certain amount? guess it depends on the stress and weight. any info on limits would be greatly appreciated. what i dont care to hear about is if i need them or not. lol its a $50 upgrade it can hurt much.

FYI i pretty much have all oem front suspension. my thought was to utilize the swat bar link hole for the strap. but im not sure on length or what they would stretch with oem suspension. any positive info would be appreciated. thanks

yes in lemans terms but if you seen it in slow mo or equivalent how far does a give strap stretch? i still want to keep as much travel as possible but limit the beating on the shocks expanding to failure.

say 2'' shorter than full droop and should be good? I'm hoping to lose only about an inch with the strap stretched at full stress and what not. i guess im asking for answers from some guys that have done this to stock suspension or maybe some pics where mounts were.

Theoretically none at all. Those web straps, like on a monster truck lets say (best example of visually being able to see them) look like they stop all motion and are VERY strong. Sure I can't give you a number and I'm not sure many on here can since I haven't heard of anyone else on here running those.

subscribed because this topic interests me to hear other opinions. I don't think I would ever need it, but interested.

1" for every 12"s of strap

thanks more of what i was looking for. IMO if you run your truck and get it off the ground. the 50 bucks in limit straps has to help extend life of the front suspension. why not do it if you run your truck like that. I'm not running sway bar so perfect lower location for me. there is other options tho id imagine. :patriot:

If you guess you really don't care what other people have to say, then why do you keep repeating and trying to justify why you think limit straps are necessary when nobody is arguing with you?

The shocks are designed and built to limit the travel. Putting straps to limit travel is not needed like you keep suggesting. In all this time of the raptors creation, I've never seen or heard of the shocks pulling apart, aftermarket or stock. Only thing that comes close are some early 5.4 shock stems broke but that was a manufacturing defect and straps wouldn't have stopped them from breaking. Straps won't hurt, but until you have some solid evidence that shocks are breaking (or being ruined) during droop, how about you quit with the witch hunt.
