Lighter power?

I know I can hard wire it but, is there any easy way to change the power going to the lighter so it will cut off when the car is turned off? I hate turning on and off the radar detector.

You could switch the lighter though a relay I guess. Thats way more of a pain in the ass than just hardwiring the radar detector to the accessory circuit.

yeah by the time you rewire the cig lighter to be switched power, you can just hardwire the radar to a switched 12v source, and get rid of the cord dangling down.

yeah, plug the square block into the square opening and forget about "trying" to figure out how to get it into a round hole.

in other words, why would you look for another solution to a solved problem?

Yes, you guys are right again. I didn't take a look at it before asking. I will wire it into the rear view mirror. Did the same on my vette now that I think of it, peace.
