So, I just finished installing my front bumper. I welded additional plates/brackets for lights and one for the license plate bracket. I bought the Sto-N-Show bracket which I mounted on the center bracket. I then drilled a hole in the tube and threaded a hollow rod through it, which I then made into a release pin. It sounds complicated, but it was pretty simple and the results are awesome. The plate just slides in and locks in place. Then you pull the spring loaded pin about a 1/4 inch and the plate slides out. There are 2 3/8 inch holes in the top center of the skid plate, which you can barely see.

I am glad that tax payer dollars are spent protecting from us from criminals who roll around w/o front plates.

Good ideas for the mounts, but the plate always ruin the looks of the vehicles, so I almost never install them. Since I live in an area where there are more serious crimes, I have not been ticketed for it in the last 20 years.

I couldn't agree more. However, if you're ticketed in your driveway, I assume you would fight it. That means taking a day off from work, driving to the courthouse, and just a complete waste of time and money. It would make sense to just comply with the law than go thru all the ********

Cops have cameras on their cruisers which automatically run EVERY plate they capture. It is the reason behind having to display a plate front and back. It is also required that if you use a car cover, the plate (s) must be visable.

Dual plate laws predate the cameras used to run plates. It’s easy money if they land 1 vehicle per day that has outstanding violations on it and can be booted / towed.

And don’t think because you’ve done it for years you’re not going to get ticketed for not displaying a front plate. Cops tend to write citations at a higher rate for vehicles they can’t afford - or can’t catch than run of the mill vehicles stopped for the same infraction. This is a violation cops use when there’s no other reason to stop the vehicle that they want to stop.

Years and years ago my dad, now deceased, gave me a license plate frame that says:

"I'D RATHER BE CLIMBING"

He started me mountaineering early. I was only 7 years old.
I've had that license plate frame on three vehicles.
It's now on my Raptor.
I think I'll be buried with it.

No I didn't consider that position for the plate. Its coming off soon again, so I just wanted to get in place so I could get the ticket signed off.

I thought about machining some custom ones. I still don't understand front plates

Yeah I love not having to run a front plate.
Saskatchewan got rid of them about 20yrs ago to save money was the story.

I did however just get warned to remove my front side window tint.
I've never tinted the front sides before but just love how it looks with the AG truck.
Oh well, 2wks left on my grace period and inspection date. Gonna squeeze it right to the end lol.
