By preloading the spring to raise the truck you reduce the travel amount of the shock. If you move the spring mount on the shock mount up 2 inches you reduce the up travel by two inches.. Now if you fully extend the suspension it will travel down 2 inches less overall. and when you compress the suspension the preload reduces the travel to fully compressed by two inches.... Mid perch is pre loading the shock by compressing the spring more. It adds overall height to the front of the truck and raises the bumper. But you have only altered on thing by tightening the tension on the coil springs. You did not increase travel by this simple fix. It works and works well for most Raptor owners. I am not most and want the Cadillac ride this truck offers without the pre load of mid perch. It makes the suspension stiffer for me and I try to avoid that...
