Who installs a leveling kit? Does the dealership have this kind of expertise?
You resurrected a dead thread- I’ll get you up to speed
While these “perch collars” are the preferred “cheap way” to add some height over the god awful red neck rough country type plastic or metal block kits, which by their very design cause the truck to chew through ball joints/bearings/bushings & tires more quickly. They’re trash & do not belong on anything other than a beater plow truck.
The higher the perch collar setting the former the ride will be, you’re pre-loading the shock causing the point where the spring mates to the top of the shock will be higher. There is no way to get around the fact that it compromises ride, suspension travel to a degree- but bottom line the more height the firmer the suspension- may be to your liking may not. There is probably still additional wear on ball joints etc over stock, but much Less though than a block kit- def get an alignment.
I was going to take this route as in theory it is a similar approach to the bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks I had on previous GM trucks to add lift (have notches in the shocks allowing you to adjust a snap ring attached to the shock higher or lower similar to these perch collars.
However- given that this is a much more sophisticated rig in terms of suspension & purpose, after doing more research I think the best way to raise the front a little is w/ new springs.
2 main choices are eibach & geyser, supposedly the eibachs raise the height a tad more, but they’re not advertised as 2.25 or 2.5” I can’t recall. They’re both very reputable companies, eibachs are about 1/2 the price of the geysers. The original version of the eibachs had mixed reviews some saying ride was too stiff, they have since redesigned & consensus is better overall.
Main difference between these & geysers is the geysers are progressive rate spring which is the same type the raptor rocks from factory. Get smoother the faster you go I think- but not sure makes that much of a diff if you’re not off-roading a lot.
Now- warranty wise you powder coat or paint either spring black dealer would never know. The collar? Sticks out like a sore thumb. Bearings of ball joints go bad early it’s on you.
