I think its like anything else made by man, it could or will fail at some point. I have said it before , my most reliable vehicle ive ever owned is my 2007 Tundra i bought new with the 5.7. 240k miles had the starter go out in 2015 at the state wrestling championships in huntsville al on the last day leaving the hotel to go to the civic center ....that sucked. the 2012 ford f150 lariat with 5.0 coyote......not a fan at all. leaking rear main at 90k miles, fuse 27 got me, and the motor was just weak truly, wasnt impressed at all, got my gen1......2014...love it.....probably my all time favorite truck ive owned. my 94 Z71 was great but nothing like my Gen1. The 2019 i just got......ill start cussing lol...waiting on new engine..main bearing gone. i drove it 2 weeks roughly. but i am excited to have a newer raptor...eventually ill be able to drive it lol. Best car ive ever had.....BMW M3....just fun and reliable for sure. 1999 artic silver inline 6, 5 speed.

so 2-ish problems out of 17 jeeps is ~12% of your jeeps had serious problems.

And the Rap has random electronic issues.

The difference is that the Jeeps that I've had issues with, it was one issue that kept it in the shop for more than a few days. I had a 1987 YJ that I was doing donuts and ******** around in snow and ice and I threw out reverse in it. It was most likely my fault, but they covered it under warranty. My 2012 JK that had a manufacturing defect with an exhaust valve on the drivers side head. It never left me stranded or anything, it just made a ticking sound. It later had a leak on the filter housing for the oil cooler, which was a manufacturing defect. My 2018 JL's AC failed due to leaves clogging up the evaporator that fell into the open slots on the cowl. I wasn't running a cabin filter which allowed the leaves to get into the condenser. Again, my fault but covered under warranty. My Raptor has had issues with headlight module, tail lights had to be replaced, exhaust rattle, shocks, tailgate coming open randomly, rattles in the interior, etc, etc, etc. Lastly, why is it that a $90K truck's stereo sounds about 1/2 as good as my $50K Jeep???? The system in the Raptor is just horrible and has hardly any base and if you do turn it up to he point where it DOES have noticeable bas the interior panels vibrate and rattle like a Kraco stero from the 80's. Complete shit.

Ford truck stereos have never been what you, or anyone for that matter would call adequate, much less good. The only issue I would take with this statement is - I think you’re being generous.
As bad as you may think it is though, I can promise you that the ’17 Sony and ’18-’20 B&O efforts were far worse.

The mixing was atrocious- my wife’s $29k Subaru sounded better. The meh news is, you can upgrade yourself if you’re handy for about $3200 all in. Buy once, cry once.
I knew it was bad when I bought it as I played a few tracks on it and I could hear just muddy noise in the middle. In the Jen Too years, the components were dirt cheap speakers, an adequate amp and mixing to cover that poor, budget selection of components and bass roll off to protect the sub.

You will need an amplifier or two depending on how much bass you need, DSP, cabling, harness kit, speakers and about 30’ of power and ground wire. If you need the back seat, MTI - Mobile Toyz makes a behind the seat enclosure for 1 or 2 subs, loaded with JL Audio that I’m using and a few others. There may be less expensive options now. If not and you can live with your rear floor being partially used then you can get bigger bass for less money. IDK what an install would run if you’re not handy.

I’ve got a ’24 Mustang Dark Horse and I know it’s sacrilege, but the mixing is not horrible. Yes, components are cheaply made, bass rolls off just like the Rap, but, you can hear it pretty clear at 70, windows down and it’s nowhere near as muddy as the Rap was. That cost within a few hundred of my ’17 Rap, so Ford _can_ do better with the stereo.

My family has had bad luck with anything Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep. Dad's Ram left him stranded and never moved again, Caravan went through 6 AC units. Mom's LeBaron had issues with the mechanisms for the soft top (a plague for all convertibles so I don't fault Chrysler) but had electrical and transmission issues, and my 85 Jeep Lerado was solid as far as body, frame and 4x4 go; but the engine was pure garbage and would never start when the motor was warmed up and always had to wait at least 30 mins before it would even think about doing so. Every other GM/Ford/Merc/Foreign car we had was just minor issues here and there.

Yeah I can confirm that caravan AC unit deal. My parents had them in the 90s and early 2000s. The first one went through 3 AC units before 100K miles, the next one was in the shop relentlessly. Most garbage vehicles Ive ever experienced, there a reason you don't see any of them on the road anymore. They were dodge people back then because there was a reason they were cheaper....the price drug them back in.

back in college when I was taking classes for an SAE certification, our teacher was a Ford guy and liked to point that the word Dodge in the English language means "avoid".

When my parents had a little more cash on them, switched to Honda and Lexus and those have never been in the shop. (other than regular maintenance). Those turn of the century Dodges were on a different planet of bad.

funny how all the 6.2’s failing seem to get ignored. someone just reported a busted valve spring at ~40k miles.

Hey, leave me out of this. By the way, I had it replaced along with new valve covers and some other things and it runs great now. i’ll stick with my 6.2 any day. Actually it’s my wife’s truck and she does check the oil.

I hate ford trucks. I'm on my tenth one now and never had a perfect one. I've put on several million miles. On every one, I've had to change the oil and tires. They just don't last. I know I've spent at least a couple hundred in the last 50 years fixing them.
