Posting some pics of the Leer 100R Topper/Cap/Lid (whatever you want to call it) I recently had installed. Hope the pics and this description help others make a decision about their topper.
Specs: $2k installed; Oxford White; roof rails for Thule roof rack (also fits Yak, rails not installed in pics); sliding front window, battery operated light, carpeted headliner, bed rug mat and tailgate cover, and heavy duty pet screens; combination of repeated ordering mistakes by dealer and very slow build time from Leer resulted in 9 weeks from order to delivery (installed early March).
Other tops considered: I had the choice of Leer, ARE, or Snugtop in my area. The quote for an equivalent model Snugtop (the Extravision) was more than $3k after extras and install. The advantage to that top would have been that it was offered through a custom parts shop who I suspect would have given me MUCH better customer service than the local Toyota dealer that is the nearest Leer dealer, but after inspecting the tops, I have serious doubts that Snug is really any better quality, at least when comparing "no frills" toppers (I have heard claims that the hardware is better on snugs, but my goal with this was to limit the number of extra add ons that can break, like curved glass, fancy locking latches, and slide outs). I was just not seeing 33% more quality in the Snug, in any event. Also, the Snug has a weird flare toward the bottom which I think catches the light in a funny way. The internet is rife with differing opinions on this, and this is my experience. ARE was equivalently priced, and I chose Leer over ARE because I've had a Leer before, and had good luck with it.
Why the Leer 100R: I have owned a 100R on one pickup or another for about 7 years now, and I've been pleased with the quality and durability. My choices in toppers are limited because I often sleep back there and I have dogs that ride in the back, and so I need the full sliding rear windows as the pop outs don't allow enough air in. I also think that the frame on the sliding side window (as seen on ARE, Snug, and Leer toppers with full slides) better matches the truck visually which was framed windows, I personally think the sleek frame-less designs do not look as good. Also, I like the simplicity of the hardware, the rear window latches are purely manual affairs, and there is virtually no way they could break. Same with the battery powered light, simply but effective. Also, the Raptor already has kick ass LED lighting in the bed. One really nice update on the 100R is the addition of painted black trip over the top of the tailgate, my last one was a cheap looking matte plastic, and this is much more polished looking.
Options: I think headliner is a must, and of the three toppers I've bought over a long period of time each one had a "special deal" on a free headliner. If not, i'd still pay for one. The Bed Rug is also a great product. I bought and installed mine seperately. It was about 1/3 the price, and installed in 15 minutes or so. It's comfortable for humans and canines, the dog hair washes off in the self serve car wash, and it amazingly never pics up smells. Great product. I have yet to open the sliding front window.
