KSBP products used as an exterior coating and polish are superior to commercial waxes and other coatings in respect to (i) water repellency on metal, glass, and other surfaces (e.g., one application has provided four years of water repellency); (ii) surface cleaning, glossing, and protection against all varieties of environmental degradation (e.g., sun exposure, salt, acids, solvents, fuel and oil spills, soot, other soiling, etc.); (iii) anti-corrosive properties (for all exterior metal surfaces including the undercarriage, chrome, etc.); (iv) protection for virtually all interior surfaces (fabric, leather, vinyl, and plastic), and (v) enhanced lubricity and temperature stability in respect to moving parts.
KSBP product can be used as a wet as well as a dry lubricant when, for example, applied as an additive to motor oil. Dynamo testing by Cummins, various NASCAR teams, and professional APBA boat racing teams has demonstrated that one ounce of MegaGuard added to a vehicle’s oil once annually is sufficient to coat the engine’s operating surfaces and improve performance by up to 10%; prevent fuel injector nozzle corrosion, and prolong the oil’s useful life by two to three fold.

KSBP technology makes possible the production of chemically inert, non-toxic, non-volatile, environmentally friendly, gas permeable, mildew-resistant, temperature- and pressure-resistant, easy-to-apply, non-stick/self-bonding, non-migrating, ultra-thin, durable, and cost-effective monomolecular silicon polymer coatings that offer unrivalled protective properties and other highly desirable performance characteristics that meaningfully surpass leading commercial alternatives marketed for numerous applications, including medical, dental, consumer, industrial, transportation, other commercial, and defense uses, when applied to virtually any surface and in any environment (e.g., underwater, in space, within the human body, etc.).
KSBP-treated surfaces have proven to be exceptionally impervious to moisture, corrosion, chemical or biological fouling, or other adverse conditions. KSBP does not migrate, chip, peel, or discolor with age.
KSBP products, either utilized alone or added to other products, provide exceptional lubricity and temperature stability given their properties as dry thin-film coatings that reduce surface friction and drag.
KSBP coatings are also exceptionally simple to apply and maintain.
Illustratively, a KSBP coating, while possessing a superior non-stick property compared to Teflon, offers other material advantages. Whereas Teflon is applied by means of a costly, complex, and hazardous application process using high temperature and pressure under corrosive conditions, a KSBP liquid or gel coating can be sprayed or wiped onto surfaces by hand. In addition, a KSBP coating can be re-applied to a product to refurbish it whereas a scratched Teflon-coated product typically must be discarded. Moreover, a KSBP coating does not subject the user to the risk of a toxic agent leeching into food products, or through the skin, as is true of Teflon.
Applied as a thin film that approximates 120 Angstroms or 0.012 microns in thickness, a KSBP coating changes the chemistry of the surface to which it is applied to that of KSBP's base polymer, namely, a chemically stable and non-reactive surface with a non-stick finish that vastly reduces surface friction. Accordingly, the surface is resistant to most acids, bases, solvents and detergents, as well as to dirt. KSBP-treated surfaces not only repel water, but also shed water because of the high contact angle of water on the surface.
KSBP products possess a very low surface energy which increases the ability of air and other gas, liquid, gel, or solid molecules to slip at the surface of coated objects, which in turn increases surface performance and interface velocity, reducing friction and drag, a property that is enormously beneficial in a variety of market sectors for reasons of achieving or maximizing performance, energy conservation, reduced or simplified maintenance, equipment useful life, and productivity.
Therefore, KSBP’s potential applications include any use where water- and/or ice-repellant, chemical-resistant, anti-corrosive, water-repellent, rust-inhibiting, drag-reducing, and non-stick (easy to clean and quick releasing) properties are beneficial. Moreover, since KSBP’s application does not require a "curing" process or other complexity, its effectiveness is not at risk as a result of poor application technique, a problem common to other polymers and coating systems, nor is there a risk of contaminants interfering with polymerization.
Furthermore, a KSBP coating’s ultra-thin monomolecular layer creates a very favorable product quantity/use relationship. Illustratively, one ounce of MegaGuard Ultra™ will treat 500 square feet, with four ounces of that product sufficient to coat six to eight automobiles, or a single-engine aircraft, and the single application’s efficacy will extend one or more years. In addition, KSBP’s ultra-thin layer causes no significant change in the dimensions or surface topography of the coated object.
