But actually drive each for a week or two and the differences are dramatic.

perhaps my ass meter is not as educated as yours but I have ridden in an Icon and Fox upgraded suspension both on road and off road and frankly the difference was very negligble. Never have ridden in a Raptor with a King setup but have ridden in many Jeeps with advance king suspensions and I was always impressed.

Not so much educated, just actual driving time on them.
The icons and fox's are similar at high speed offroad. On road and at lower speeds offroad they are polar opposites. Huge difference, but perhaps it is more noticeable to the driver. I have not rode at all in others trucks, but drove my own with both icons and fox's, and the difference was quite dramatic.

For example, the fox's have more body roll with a swaybar than the icons without a swaybar, tough not to notice that kind of thing. The fox's move around quite a bit at ride height even when driven gently, the icons feel welded solid. Again, a dramatic difference.
The icons are complete crap on short choppy stuff at lower speeds and under hard braking, the fox's hardly notice it.
The icons resist packing up in a series of big hits better due to the digressive damping and high spring rate, exactly what makes them ride stiffly.
So, yes, as the driver it's noticeable. Perhaps less so to a passenger that's not being somewhat analytical as to how the chassis is responding to terrain.
I can tell you for sure that when shock tuning, it's a lot easier to feel what the truck is doing and where it is deficient when you're actually behind the wheel, so I certainly don't fault you or anyone else for thinking they're all kind of close to the same thing, but I assure you, the difference when you're behind the wheel is night and day, particularly when tested in a variety of conditions.

We have 2 fox, 1 king and 1 icon truck in our stable. Just fly in and them for a spin.... :)
The information listed above is pretty spot on. Finding the compromise you are most ok with is the deciding factor. As we transition our trucks to more performance based vehicles, we have to give a little somewhere.

Now that is an awesome offer. Everyone has different taste and different ideas of what they like. That is a wonderful opportunity to decide first hand. A very gracious offer.

King makes great off-road shocks. However, if you're talking about OEM replacement 3.0's, the difference between the major brands is fairly small. Most would be happy with any of them.

However, if your building a Class 1, TT or true Prerunner you'll most likely run Fox or King. It would probably come down to who gave you more support.
